The steamer Shubrick returned from

The Idaho arrived at San Francisco
yesterday, and is advertised to return on

Mr. Franklin has orders to disinter
the remains of poor Conway, and send
the same to San Francisco by the Elder.

Charles of Lorraine recaptured Bu

rived for Szegcdin Again, in 18-10,
the town was fated for a few brief
weeks to play a prominent part
in the terrible drama of the time.
In July, Kossuth and the provision
al government had to quit Pesth,
retiring before the advancing Aus
trian iorces. Theseatof authority
was moved to Szcarcdin, the citizens
received Kossuth with enthusiasm,
and he assured them that "freedom
would start from Szegedin and
conquer Europe."" The deputies
and magnates assembled, buildings
were set apart for administrative
offices, and a large amount of paper
money was issued. Kossuth pro
posed to set up an army corps of
30,000 men,but he had neither time
nor men to carry out his designs.
The Austrians gave him no rest.
At the end of July, the dictator
had to quit his temporary resting
place. On August 3d, Mashal
Havman entered the. town, and at
once opened fire on the Hungarian
iust. received the latest and most fash
ionable style of gent and ladies boots,
.ilioes. etc.

house. whom e erybody knows as a popu
lar caterer, has fixed his hotel up in
splended stvle. It is all newly painted
and furnished, and is one of the most
attractive places on Main street. Call

the Chicago house.
Mr. J. Stewart, stone and marble
cutter of Astoria will guarantee satis
faction to all ordering work of him. and
will do a better job for less money than
anv outside workman. His work in the
cemetery here should besuflieientreconi
