If he went into a house, the inmates were warned against harboring the "heretic," one land lord after another was induced by priestly persuasions not to hire him lodgings. Finally his household goods were turned out of doors. "At five in the morning he per suaded an acquaintance to allow him to deposit them in his ware house; but before the second load could arrive the priests had alarm ed this person, and he refused to admit any more. For the whole day this load of furniture traversed the streets of Victoria, seeking in vain a place of deposit.
