In consequence h the stormy
weather prevailing during our trip to
Pugct-souml, we reluctantly abandon
ed our projected visit u Olympin via
the narrow-gauge mil ay from Teni
no, but we take pleasure in saying
ihat what we saw of the road pleased
us very much indeed. Trains make con
nections every day both ways at Tennio
and the comfortable little passenger
coach, and neat little engine used in
the make up, is a splendid substitute
for the stage coach. The distance is
about 15 miles of narrow gauge, and
people living at Tacoma can by this
route leave their homes in the morn-
mg, 0 lO tlie capital, u-aiiancu mew
business a.nl return t.he same day.
People may also leave Olympia and
return the ame (by from various
iwrts of the couuiry by the same route.
We were unable to gain any inrorma
iion respecting the business of the
road, but it appears io be managed
on the score of economy, and is not
only a benefit to its projectors and
builders, but creditable to their en
terprise and sagacity.
