C41 Tri-Weekly Astorian ASTORIA. Nov. 21, 1873 a ariDSuaraiER imnr "Within tho shade by willows mado, In softest summer weather, "We sat beside tho rippling tide My love and I together, Through clouds of white, with softonod light, Tho harvest moonbeams shiinmorod ; And on tho stream a silvery beam "With diamond lustre glimmored. Tho summer breeze, from fragrant trees, Delicious odors brought us ; "Whilo sounds from o'er tho farther shoro In blended sweetness sought us. And so wo, too, as in us grew Tho sense of peace so gentle Attuned our song to Nature's throng, Beneath tho evening's mantlo. "Wo talked not much, but tho soft touch Of hands, and oyes oft meeting, Told more by far than words declaro, As heart to heart gave greeting. Then, midnight come, wo loitered home, Like brother now and sister, " To cheat surprise and prying eyes" Till at tho gato I kissed her. By D. W. BrownclL School Boolcs.
