In other areas where there is a Wal- greens location, patient files are being shifted from Bi-Mart to Walgreens. In areas with a Walgreens, such as North Bend, Bi-Mart patients can now access pharmacy services there. Florence Bi-Mart management personnel were also unable to com- ment on the details of the pharmacy transition, referring all inquiries to public relations personnel. People are being directed to www.bimart.com/ rxchange, which has more informa- tion about the agreement with Wal- greens. “This decision, while difficult, is strategically important as we move to strengthen our solid financial po- sition and expand our plans for fu- ture growth in the Northwest,” said Rich Truett, president and CEO of Bi-Mart. “Bi-Mart’s core business is healthy and strong; however, over the years factors, such as increasing costs and ongoing reimbursement pres- sure has led in part to our decision. We look forward to partnering with Walgreens to transition our pharma- cy staff and members as seamless as possible.” According to the announcement, the companies expect the prescrip- tion file transfers to begin in October and be complete by January 2022. Bi- Mart pharmacists and pharmacy staff will also have an opportunity to apply for available positions at Walgreens. In addition, patients whose pre- scriptions are being transferred will be notified by mail, and all compa- nies involved will work together to help ensure a smooth transition for pharmacy patients.
