Middle schoolers can register for 90 by 30 course
Registration for 90 by
30’s “40 Developmen-
tal Assets” for middle
schoolers and its month-
ly meetings will be avail-
able at this year’s Middle
School Registration days
on Aug. 18 and 19.
“40
Developmental
Assets” is a program
within the 90 by 30 Child
Abuse Prevention Ini-
tiative which has been
active in West Lane Coun-
ty since 2013.
The sessions are based
on developing healthy be-
haviors such as positive
self-esteem and identity,
commitment to learning
and constructive use of
time.
The Search Institute,
creators of the 40 devel-
opmental assets, has veri-
fied that if a person has 35
to 40 of these assets, they
have less than 1 percent
chance of having lives
disrupted by conflict, ad-
diction, criminal behav-
iors or poverty, among
others.
The monthly sessions
will be meeting at Siuslaw
Middle School on second
Sunday afternoons during
the school year and are
open to all middle school-
ers who reside in the Siu-
slaw and Mapleton school
district boundaries.
Other areas of 90 by 30
include “Welcome Baby”
bundles, “April as Child
Abuse Prevention Month”
and “Roots of Empathy.”
“40 Assets” is also look-
ing for volunteers who are
interested in doing this
work to contact us and
join in the process.
