When it began, the club
had only five members.
“Our club has quickly
grown to 47 households
with 70+ vintage, classic
and modern British vehi-
cles on the club register,”
Plunkett said.
Group members focus
on their shared interest and
tend to avoid discussions
about religion or politics.
COCBCC’s monthly club
breakfast social and busi-
ness meetings are on the
last Saturday of the month,
9 a.m. Locations may vary
for as the group locates a
concourse judges or res-
toration experts. All are
more interested in spend-
ing times with friends than
entering and competing in
car shows.
The oldest vehicle reg-
istered with COCBCC is a
1936 Bentley. The “newest”
classics are 1980 Triumph
restaurant capable or will-
ing to host the meetings.
In Coos Bay, the “Southern
Pod” of the club meets at 9
a.m. on the second Satur-
day of each month at the
Mill Casino’s Plank House
restaurant.

The event brought to-
gether children, art and
the community to support
local animals and their
care at the humane soci-
ety.
OCHS welcomes volun-
teers and is seeking peo-
ple interested in at-home
fostering, according to
Thompson.

Mapleton Communi-
ty Foundation and the
Mapleton Lions Club are
pleased to announce the
opportunity to apply for
the organization’s Con-
tinuing Education Schol-
arships for 2021.
These scholarships are
designed for individuals
who use permanent home
addresses within the Ma-
pleton/Swisshome/Dead-
wood or Florence/Dunes
City geographical areas
and who have graduated
from high school before
2021, have their GED or
were home schooled, and
are eligible to continue ad-
ditional years of post-high
school education or enroll
in a trade school or gradu-
ate program.
Also eligible are indi-
viduals enrolling in a first
year of a continuing ed-
ucational program after a
career or family change or
job loss.
Scholarships are avail-
able for attending tradi-
tional four-year universi-
ties, colleges, community
colleges, and accredited
trade schools.
While
academic
achievement is one crite-
rion used in determining
recipients, other qualify-
ing characteristics include
financial need, outside ac-
tivities, work history, vol-
unteerism, etc.
Those who meet the
qualifications are en-
couraged to complete the
application that is down-

The fee to participate is $20. An ad for the Community Wide Garage Sale with a map of all participation
sales will be published in the Siuslaw News on September 4th and 8th. Because of print deadlines,
the registration deadline is 5pm Tuesday August 31 2021.
You will also receive two official Community Wide Garage Sale signs as well as a tip sheet on how to have a great
sale. Maps will be available in the Siuslaw News, online and at the Florence Visitors Center.
