OREGON CROSSES 70% TARGET OF VACCINATED ADULTS
Oregon reached another vac-
cination milestone on July 2:
70% of adults 18 years and older
received at least one vaccination
in advance of the July 4 holiday
weekend.
Oregon’s number is based on
data reported by the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC), and data in Oregon’s
ALERT IIS system, which has not
yet been uploaded to the CDC
website.
According to the CDC,
2,343,617 adult Oregonians had
received at least one dose of the
Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or a
shot of the single-dose Johnson
and Johnson vaccine, as of Friday.
That total leaves Oregon 2,206
adult first doses short of 70%.
However, Oregon has received re-
ports of an additional 2,900 back-
logged doses delivered by phar-
macies in Oregon that are not yet
reported to CDC. In addition,
Oregon reported 1,478 first dos-
es administered yesterday to the
CDC earlier today, which have
not yet been added to the federal
total (a portion of these doses will
not count toward Oregon’s adult
vaccination target because they
were administered to children 12-
17 years old). The combination of
these additional doses mean Or-
egon has reached its 70% adult
vaccination target.
“The 70% adult vaccination
goal means we have a better
chance to sustain a safe reopening.
The safe and effective COVID-19
vaccines continue to drive down
new cases, hospitalizations and
deaths in our state. Thank you to
everyone who’s been vaccinated
and everyone who helped admin-
ister these life-saving vaccines,”
said Patrick Allen, Director of the
Oregon Health Authority. “But
COVID-19 hasn’t gone away. It’s
our goal to vaccinate eight in 10
people across Oregon, particu-
larly adults in communities of
color and other under-vaccinated
groups.”
Oregon’s latest vaccine effec-
tiveness data show that more than
nine in 10 recent cases, hospital-
izations and deaths in Oregon
were among people who were
unvaccinated or not fully vacci-
nated.
Oregon now stands 18th in the
nation in the percentage of the to-
tal population that has been vac-
cinated.
The state reached the 70%
adult vaccination goal through
the efforts of more than 660 vac-
cination sites, which were op-
erated by a wide range of health
care providers, Tribal partners,
Local Public Health Authorities,
community based organizations,
pharmacies, volunteers, the Or-
egon National Guard, retired
healthcare workers and countless
others — all working together to
beat back the pandemic.
With adult vaccination rate
now more than 70% and the lift-
ing of statewide protections, the
state will continue to support vac-
cination efforts in communities
across Oregon. However, local
health authorities will be respon-
sible for managing outbreaks of
COVID-19 at the local level.
Statewide coordination efforts
will continue at OHA, including
case investigation and contact
tracing support, epidemiologi-
cal investigations, monitoring of
variants and collecting and re-
porting data. Oregon is now able
to move from the statewide re-
sponse model to one being driven
at the local level, in each commu-
nity and based on local risks.

County seeks volunteers for Redistricting Committee Share ideas about Lane County Climate Action Plan
The Lane County Board
of Commissioners is re-
quired to periodically draw
new boundary lines for the
five Lane County Commis-
sioner positions. The board
is further required to form
an Independent Redistrict-
ing Committee (IRC) and
prepare at least two but not
more than four proposed
redistricting plans in ordi-
nance form for adoption by
the Lane County Board of
Commissioners, as required
by the Lane County Home
Rule Charter.
The new commission-
er boundary lines must be
drawn is such a way as to not
deny any citizen equal rights.
This process is called redis-
tricting and the Lane County
Home Rule Charter requires
that it be done not less than
every 10 years. The bound-
aries were last drawn on Oct.
26, 2011.
The Lane Charter also
requires that the new com-
missioner boundary lines
be adopted in the form of
an ordinance by the Lane
County Board of Commis-
sioners. Individuals selected
will be contributing in the
formation of these boundary
options.
Meetings: The schedul-
ing of meetings will depend
upon receipt of United States
Census data, and are esti-
mated to average two per
month through the end of
the year.
Membership: 15 regular
members and three alternate
members.
Geographic membership:
Must be a resident of Lane
County at the time of ap-
pointment. Every reasonable
effort will be made to select
membership from different
geographic areas of Lane
County.
Other member require-
ments: Applicants must com-
plete an ethics/conflict of in-
terest form.
Applications must be re-
ceived no later than Friday,
July 16, at 4 p.m.
All interested applicants
are required to submit both
an application for the IRC
committee as well as a current
Statement of Economic Inter-
est. Both applications are also
available online on the Lane
County website, lanecounty.

Disposal costs are $11 for
a standard pickup truck load
or small utility trailer (single
axle) or less; $16 for a medi-
um utility trailer (10-12 feet
in length); and $21 for a large
utility trailer (12-18 feet).
Over 20 cubic yards is $21
plus $5 for each additional
cubic yard. Pay with cash.
This collection is for tree
clippings, leaves, grass clip-
pings, weeds, prunings,
brush, etc. Scotch broom

Lane County is devel-
oping a comprehensive
county-wide Climate Ac-
tion Plan (CAP) that will
outline goals and strate-
gies to reduce greenhouse
gas emissions and prepare
the community for climate
change.
The county is currently
focusing on collecting feed-
back from stakeholders on a
high-level, draft climate ac-
tion plan framework, which
outlines strategies for emis-
sions reductions that may
be included in the final
CAP. This draft framework
is based on technical analy-
sis, best practices from oth-
er communities, and resi-
dents’ priorities identified
in the initial survey.
Using the feedback from
the public engagement pe-
riod, best practices, and the
results of technical analysis,
Lane County will present a
Climate Action Plan that is
responsive to the needs and
goals of the Lane County
community.
