COM /S IUSLAW N EWS Florence Police investigate burglary, make arrests On May 24, the Florence Police Department received a report of a storage unit broken into at 101 Mini Storage. Evidence at the scene identified two suspects and a vehicle. It was determined that those two suspects had broken into 3 storage units. Among some of the prop- erty stolen included several firearms and ammunition. On June 10, officers locat- ed the vehicle used, which belonged to a family mem- ber of one of the suspects, seized the vehicle and were given permission by the owner to search the vehicle. Some evidence believed to be associated to the storage unit burglary was located in the vehicle. Officers received informa- tion that the two suspects, Bradley James Robbins and Camille Renee Childers, were possibly staying at the Quality Inn at 2475 Highway 101 in Florence. Officers discovered that Childers was listed as a renter of a room at the Quality Inn. From outside the motel, officers were able to observe Robbins in the room. Rob- bins has several warrants out for his arrest from Lane County Circuit Court and from the Florence Munici- pal Court. Officers attempted to gain entry to the motel room, but the door was being secured from the inside and the oc- cupants would not respond to the officers. Florence of- ficers, assisted by the Lane County Sheriff ’s Office (LCSO), secured the area and evacuated other mo- tel guests from the effected floor. Officers kept observa- tion of the room, requested the LCSO Special Response Team (SRT) to respond, and continually tried to make contact with the occupants of the room. After approximately 1.5 hours, officers were able to make phone contact with one of the suspects in the room and were able to con- vince the suspects to exit the room. Childers and Robbins were taken into custo- dy without incident. SRT, which was activated and en route, was called off. Childers and Robbins were lodged in the Florence City Jail and will be trans- ported to the Lane County Jail. Robbins, born Jan. 30, 1990, of Florence, was ar- rested for Burglary 1, Theft 1, Criminal Trespass, Crim- inal Mischief and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Robbins was also taken into custody on warrants, which included for Burglary 1, UUV and Theft 1 out of Lane County Circuit Court and Violation of Probation x2 out of Florence Munici- pal Court. Childers, born March 25, 1993, of Florence, was ar- rested for Burglary 1, Crim- inal Trespass and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
