The Vikings had several wins throughout the night, and although Philomath came out on top 45-15 in the first dual meet, Elmira/Crow fell to the Viks 36-24. Following two wins, one at home against Marshfield on May 27 and one away at Elmira on May 29, the Viks fell to the Junction City Tigers at home on Tuesday, June 1, 35-49. The win against the Pirates on May 27 was particularly sweet for the Vikings. According to Coach Dylan Perry, “I was very proud of the way our guys bounced back after a tough loss to Marist in the previous game. No fishing licenses or tags (including a Combined An- gling Tag, Columbia River Ba- sin Endorsement or Two-Rod Validation) are required by Oregon residents or nonresi- dents to fish, crab or clam in Oregon on those dates. Although no licenses or tags are required these two days, all other fishing regulations apply including closures, bag limits and size restrictions. The first check was for $2,600 which the team used to purchase an official pitch- er’s mound that provides the pitchers more stability and durability. The second check was for $730 and presented by the Florence Ladies of the Elks. The team was then able to pur- chase two pitcher protecting nets that are used during their practice sessions.
