SIUSLAW NEWS | SATURDAY, MAY 22, 2021 | 3A Community News Fred Meyer home of new bulk bottle, can redemption site On Friday, Oregon Bot- tleDrop and Florence Fred Meyer hosted the grand opening of the first bulk bottle and can redemp- tion location in Florence with a ribbon-cutting event that included Rep. Boomer Wright. This new BottleDrop network drop location will allow areas residents to par- ticipate in the very popular Green Bag program and will open up new fundraising opportunities for local non- profits through the Blue Bag program. The BottleDrop network drop location will make it fast and easy for Central Coast residents to return, redeem and recycle redeemable beverage con- tainers in special 13-gallon Flying solo over Florence BottleDrop Green Bags, which can be purchased the at the Florence Fred Meyer store. Customers can also sign up for a BottleDrop account at the store kiosk, and print bag tag labels with QR codes linking the bags to their ac- counts. Then they simply tag their bags, fill them with empty Oregon 10-cent refund con- tainers, and drop them off at the new BottleDrop net- work drop location. Their containers are counted and credited to their accounts within seven days. BottleDrop is operated by the Oregon Beverage Recy- cling Cooperative (OBRC), which introduced the Green Bag program in 2010. His solo came after only 4.2 hours of training. His wife and sons were there to watch and congratulate Shervin on his achieve- ment, which included the time-honored tradition of cutting off his shirttail (right). Backstreet Gallery welcomes new artists Teresa Zook Backstreet Gallery wel- comes textile artist Teresa Zook. It’s never too late for your creativity to blossom. Working with an inter- national law firm, Teresa took the opportunity when offered a job transfer from San Francisco to West Vir- ginia to discover “...my in- ner creative force that was waiting to be released.” At first, she concentrated on college. When she re- tired and moved to Oregon, she began working with hand-built ceramics and then took a weaving class. She was hooked. You may also drop your key in our secure mailbox for drop-off s to avoid or minimize contact. 4 Employee Illness is Serious- We are encouraging employees not to shake hands. We are practicing “personal distancing” and encouraging employees to stay home if they feel under the weather. 5 Wipe Down High Touch Points- We wipe/spray counters, credit card machines, door handles, phone handles, kitchen areas, and chair arms and tables in waiting area multiple times a day.
