The Falcons dominated
in the sixth inning, scor-
ing an additional nine
runs, prompting the um-
pires to call the game at
the end of the sixth in-
ning, with a final score of
22-7.
Shinn explained that,
despite the loss, there
were still many positives
about the game.
“We reduced the num-
ber of strikeouts in this
game,” he said. “We ran
the bases aggressively,
which I like to see.”
The Viks were struck
out eight times on Fri-
day, as opposed to the 10
strikeouts they had last
Tuesday (April 13) at Cot-
tage Grove. According to
Shinn, this is one of the
areas the team is focusing
on specifically.
“I try to emphasize,
when we put the ball in
play it makes the other
team have to play error
free baseball,” said Shinn.
Another area of focus
will be on Siuslaw’s pitch-
ers. “We have to work at
reducing the number of
errors to help our pitch-
ers reduce the number
of pitches they have to
throw in the game,” added
Shinn.
Friday was meant to be
a full doubleheader for
the Vikings. However, the
nightcap had to be paused
at the top of the fourth in-
ning due to a lack of day-
light, with Elmira leading
13-8.
Said Shinn, “The first
