2A | WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14, 2021 | SIUSLAW NEWS On The Record OBITUARIES MOSBY—Carita De- lores Mosby, 84, went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2021. Carita passed away in Reno, Nev., where she lived out the last few years of her life. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Mer- ritt Carol Mo s by, whom she was mar- ried for 66 years. Now they are togeth- er again in heaven Carita Mosby and in the presence of the Lord. One of nine children, Carita was born Dec. 25, 1936, on the family farm in North Dakota, where she spent her childhood. Carita came to California in 1952. She met Merritt Carol Mosby in Berkeley. Merritt and Carita mar- ried, had 3 children and settled in the San Francisco Bay area, where they raised their family. Carita was the co- found- er of two successful family businesses that proudly carry her name, Ms. Cari- ta, Inc. and Ms. Carita Safe Truck, Inc. Both companies continue to operate today. Carita and Merritt were pi- oneers, starting their own business in the early 70s, not only in filling a need in the heavy haul trucking industry, but also to use the personal title of “Ms.” In the business name, Ms. Carita continues as a quality and recognized brand globally. Carita and Merritt bought a motor coach and moved to Florence, Ore., in their retirement years. They spent much of the next several years explor- ing the wonders of this great country while mak- ing new friends along the way. Carita greatly enjoyed traveling with Merritt, who was former National President of the American Coach Chapter of the Fam- ily Motor Coach Associa- tion, and the Past President of both NorCal and North- west Chapters of the Amer- ican Coach Association. In Florence, Merritt and Carita attended the Flor- ence Nazarene Church. They also attended the Pat- terson Covenant Church when visiting family in Patterson, Calif. While in Nevada, Carita attended the Fellowship Community Church. Merritt and Carita were active in their communi- ty as members of the Elks, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veter- ans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the Kilroy Corps (Oregon Coast Mili- tary Heritage Museum), Carita was a wife and best friend to Merritt, as well as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and family matriarch. Carita is survived by her three children: Sheri, Gordon and Michael; five grandchildren: Julie, Phil- lip, Jason, Cierra and Ste- ven; five great-grandchil- dren: Adrianna, Kyleigh, Jase, Josh and Jax; three brothers: Merwyn, Har- ry and Randy; and sisters Fern, Rose, Pat and Pam. Carita was preceded in death by her sister Amy. Carita was always known for her big heart, her gen- erosity and warmth, her quick wit and sense of hu- mor. These were embel- lished by her keen ability to tease out the ironic and the comic in her observations and conversations with those around her. Simply put, her quick smiles, the twinkle in her eyes and honest personality made a person happy to be with her and to know her. These wonderful attri- butes stayed with her in force during her amazing life and inspired many of those that knew her; she will surely be missed. Carita’s final resting place will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery in San- ta Nella, Calif., where she will be inurned with her husband, Merritt. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held Friday, June 4, at 2 p.m., at the Fellowship Community Church, 130 Hydraulic St., Reno, Nev., 89506. Port of Siuslaw to hold budget committee meeting A public meeting of the Budget Committee of the Port of Siuslaw will be held April 21 to discuss the budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022. The meeting will be held at the Port of Siu- slaw, 100 Harbor St., in Florence, beginning at 5 p.m. Members of the pub- lic who wish to attend or view the meeting should contact Kelly, Adminis- trative Assistant, at least 48 hours prior to the no- ticed meeting time. She can be reached by calling 541-997-3426 or by email at kelly@por- tofsiuslaw.com and a link for the meeting will be provided. A second meeting, if needed, will be an- nounced. The purpose of the meeting is to receive the budget message and to receive comment from the public on the budget. This is a public meeting where deliberation of the Budget Committee will take place. Any person may discuss the proposed programs with the Bud- get Committee. A copy of the budget document may be in- spected or obtained by contacting Kelly and will be posted on the Port of Siuslaw‘s website at www. portofsiu slaw.com on May 1.
