Interact to host COVID-safe
Easter egg ‘hunt’ April 3
While due to COVID-19
restrictions and guidelines
there will be no commu-
nity Easter egg hunt this
year, the Florence Interact
Club will host the tradi-
tional event with a twist.
On Saturday, April 3,
parents can bring their
children to a drive-by
pick-up.
The Easter Bunny and
Siuslaw High School stu-

hand out Easter eggs to
children ages 3 to 12 (while
supplies last).
Families will need to re-
main in their vehicles.
There will be six golden
eggs handed out at ran-
dom, each of which has
special prizes.
The event will be held
at Siuslaw Middle School
from 10 a.m. to noon.

aking advantage of low tide, Siuslaw SOLVE members Mark Wolf (and dog Luna), Jennifer
VanSuetendael, Becky Goehring and Ellen Akre collected nearly 50 pounds of trash on
Southview Beach, including a giant Styrofoam piece that weighed nearly 30 pounds. Clean-up
efforts are ongoing, with little bags supplied by SOLVE and available at Silver Lining Boutique
and Art Gallery on Highway 101.
Rotary Club seeks participants for annual 4-Way Speech Contest
Any Siuslaw or Maple-
ton-area high school stu-
dent (public, private, or
home-schooled) in grades
9-12 who cares about ethi-
cal standards and behavior
in today’s world is invited
to participate in the Rotary
Club of Florence’s annual
Rotary International 4-Way
Test Speech Contest.
The contest will be held
virtually online at 7 p.m. on
Thursday, April 22. The top
three finalists at the contest
will present their speeches
to a virtual meeting of the
Florence Rotary Club on
Tuesday, May 4, at noon.
First place for the local
contest receives $750, sec-
ond place prize is $500,
and third place will receive
$250.
The three finalists from
this event will also compete
with contestants from other
coastal Rotary clubs, with
the first-place finisher at
the second round compet-
ing in a “Speak Off ” at the
Rotary District Conference.
Additional cash prizes will
be awarded at the District
level.
All participants will be
required to take the Rotary
4-Way Test and apply it to
real life throughout their
speeches. The 4-Way Test
has four principles:
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all con-
cerned?
3. Will it build good will
and better friendship?
4. Will it be beneficial to
all concerned?
All speeches must be
original and may not be
less than 5 minutes or more
than 7 minutes. Speeches
should also be memorized.

your key in our secure mailbox for drop-off s to avoid or minimize contact.
4 Employee Illness is Serious- We are encouraging employees
not to shake hands. We are practicing “personal distancing” and
encouraging employees to stay home if they feel under the weather.
5 Wipe Down High Touch Points- We wipe/spray counters, credit
card machines, door handles, phone handles, kitchen areas, and
chair arms and tables in waiting area multiple times a day.
