Bring your yard debris to the Kingwood entrance of the Florence Municipal Airport, Kingwood and 27th streets, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on collection days. Collection days will be the third Saturday of each month, with the exception of May when Yard Debris Collection Day is moved to May. Disposal costs are $11 for a standard pickup truck load or small utility trail- er (single axle) or less; $16 for a medium utility trailer (10-12 feet in length); and $21 for a large utility trailer (12-18 feet). Over 20 cubic yards is $21 plus $5 for each addi- tional cubic yard. Please bring cash for pay- ment. Scotch broom cannot be accepted after the June col- lection date due to the pos- sible spread of seeds during transport to the disposal site. This collection is for tree clippings, leaves, grass clippings, weeds, prunings, brush, etc. People are asked to not bring food and household waste, animal waste, plas- tics, construction debris, hazardous waste, etc. 2021 Collection Dates are generally the third Saturday of every month: March 20, April 24, May 8, June 19, July 17, Aug. 21, Sept. 18 and Oct. 16 For more information, visit www.ci.florence.or.us/ publicworks/2021-yard-de- bris-disposal-days. Siuslaw Watershed Council meets next week The Siuslaw Watershed Council (SWC) is host- ing a Virtual Watershed Community Meeting on Wednesday, March 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the video meeting applica- tion Zoom. The meeting will also feature a presentation on lamprey eels. Lamprey are fish that live in most Siuslaw streams and rivers, yet many of people may never have seen one. Though not highly vis- ible today, lamprey have played an important eco- logical role in rivers and streams for millions of years, and an important cultural one in the Pacific Northwest and the Siuslaw for millennia. Join the SWC in its Zoom-based meeting, where the council will welcome a panel of guest speakers and a film, all bringing a wealth of knowledge about lam- prey’s long history, as well as work currently being done to support lamprey recovery. The evening’s speakers will include Ralph Lamp- man, Pacific Lamprey Project Biologist, Yakama Nation Fisheries; John Schaefer, Tribal Biologist, Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians; and Paul Burns, Fisheries Biologist, Siuslaw National Forest. Register in advance for the meeting at www.zoom. us/meeting/register/tJIvc Oyvrz0rE9LTZxGafW7B4 vEiWPSQMWuT. After registering, people will receive a confirmation email containing infor- mation about joining the meeting.
