Sacramento High School,

his life, Patsy (Pat) Braun.
After a two-year court-
ship, Russ and Pat married
in Mill Valley, Calif., and
honeymooned in San Fran-
cisco. During their time in
Sacramento, they were very
active in the Twenty-Thirty
Club and loved to entertain
friends in their infamous

Mexico and the Caribbean.
Family was everything
and Russ ensured that the
family took many trips
together, including annu-
al trips to Carmel, Calif.,
and house-boating on Lake
Shasta and the Delta where
he taught all his children to
fish. He loved family days
at the beach, tide-pooling
with his kids until every-

State, federal income tax filing, payment deadlines extended to May 17
The Oregon Department
of Revenue is joining the
IRS and automatically ex-
tending the income tax fil-
ing due date for individuals
for the 2020 tax year from
April 15, 2021, to May 17.
Both the IRS and the
Oregon Department of
Revenue will be providing
additional guidance in the
coming days.
Individual taxpayers can
also postpone state income
tax payments for the 2020
tax year due on April 15 to
May 17 without penalties
and interest, regardless of
the amount owed.
This postponement ap-
plies to individual taxpay-
ers, including individuals
who pay self-employment
tax.
Penalties and interest will
begin to accrue on any re-
maining unpaid balances
as of May 18. Individual
taxpayers will automatically
avoid interest and penalties
on the taxes paid by May 17.
Individual taxpayers do
not need to file any forms
or call the Department of
Revenue to qualify for this
automatic tax filing and
payment relief.
Individual taxpayers who
need additional time to file
beyond the May 17 deadline
can request a filing exten-
sion until Oct. 15 by filing
federal Form 4868 through
their tax professional or tax
software or by using the
Free File link on IRS.gov.
Oregon recognizes a tax-
payer’s federal extension.
An extension to file is not
an extension to pay. Addi-
tional extension informa-
tion is available on the Rev-
enue website.
To get tax forms, check
the status of your refund
or make tax payments, vis-
it www.oregon.gov/dor or
email questions.dor@ore
gon.gov.
People also can call 800-
356-4222 toll-free from an
Oregon prefix (English or
Spanish) or 503-378-4988
in Salem and outside Or-
egon. For TTY we accept all
relay calls.

EcoGeneration, Master Recyclers offer online ‘Take Back’ workshops
Recycling plastics has be-
come a very problematic
and confusing venture late-
ly. With the many different
shapes, types and numbers
of plastics, how do you deter-
mine what is really recyclable
and where and how it can be
recycled?
Master Recyclers of Flor-
ence have teamed up with
the non-profit recycling
guru’s at EcoGeneration to
provide two online in-for-
mational training workshops
for the residents of Florence
to take the guess work out of
plastic recycling.
These hour-long Zoom
sessions will help decipher
the differences in the types
of plastics to ensure proper
disposal for effective reuse of
all these plastics and answer
your questions about recy-
cling.
The first session will be
held Tuesday, March 30,
from 11 a.m. to noon. It will
highlight the proper collec-
tion and sort-ing of Number
1, 2, 4 and 5 plastics.
The second session will be
held on Thursday, April 6,
from 5 to 6 p.m. This session
will highlight the various
other important exclusive
waste streams that EcoGen-
eration collects, such as
Personal Care Products and
Health and Nutrition pack-
aging.
Both sessions will also
discuss what to expect from
the upcoming Florence Re-
cycling Take Back Events and
how to prepare. These train-
ing workshops are also for
community members inter-
ested in volunteering at the
upcoming Recycling Take cyclables for collection and dry, label free and sorted by
as with all other past collec- number and type.
