One of the new initia-
tives mentioned during
the meeting was the ini-

signed to elicit respons-
es from citizens on what
they feel are important
subjects or issues to be
addressed by the city
council.
Staff also reviewed the
impact initiatives and
restrictions
associat-

pandemic, which has
curtailed most public
meetings, celebrations
and large-scale events.
The city is also work-
ing on its Coast Guard
City designation renew-
al, which is needed this
year, and the renewal of
Florence’s designation as
a Tree City.
There were also many
water-related items pre-

included updates on
stormwater, wastewater,
sewer expansion and the
development of a facili-

The review of the
Florence Work Plan was
completed with no offi-

reviewed the agenda and dis-
cussed in detail staff ’s recom-
mendation on a rate review for
waste haulers.
This process, according to
FarleyCampbell, will take some
time as there are many moving
parts to the decision, which in-
cludes the submission of finan-
cial information from Central
Coast Disposal and County
Transfer and Recycling, as well
as public hearings on the sub-
ject.
EMAC Member Vicki Phil-
ben also revisited the plan to
increase the collection of yard
waste, and the stated desire of
the committee to focus on this
area as one part of an overall
increase in debris collection
from homeowners.
