OBITUARY
WILCOX—Jean R. Wil-
cox, of Florence, passed
away peacefully in her
home Oct. 14, 2020, with
Bob, Linda, Jesse and Jen-
nifer by her side.
She was born in 1933 in
Seattle, Wash., was raised
in Yakima, Wash., and
moved to Oregon in 1954
when she married Robert
N. Wilcox Sr.
She
weas
preceded in
death by her
husband,
Robert;
her
mother Mil-
dred Hull; and
brother Robert
Anderson.
Jean moved
Jean Wilcox
to
Florence,
Ore., in 1969
to help her
husband
ful-
fill his dream
of building a
c a mp g r o u n d .
Bob, Jean and
their three chil-
dren built and
opened South
Jetty Campground in
1970.
The family ran it for
eight years.
When they sold the
campground, they started
a construction business
which continued until
Bob’s death in 2003.
Jean is survived by her
children: Robert Wil-
cox Jr., Linda Wilcox and
Kathy Wilcox, all of Flor-
ence; her granchldren:
Jesse, Krista, John and Mi-
chael Wilcox; great-gand-
children: Constance, Ben-
jamin and Jason Wilcox;
and life-long friends: Kay
Garrison of Florence, Rita
Mills of Oregon City, Jan
Albright of Minnesota,
and her new best friend
Jennifer Blanding (her
amazing caregiver).
Private services will be
held.

Dennis is a Life Mem-
ber of the DAV and
Hillsboro Elks Lodge
1862, where he was Elk
of The Year and also
North Central District
ELK of The Year.
Dennis is also a
member of the VFW
and American Legion.
Susan and Dennis
are “Still Rodding” af-
ter all these years.
Both are original-
ly from Coos Bay and
graduates of Marsh-
field High School.
Still ‘Rodding’ after
50 years
Susan and Dennis
Baker were married
50 years ago on Sept.
9, 1970. Their first car
was a 1954 Chevy built
with a 301 engine and
a Hurst 3-speed on the
floor.
Today, the couple
— both avid hot rod
enthusiasts — drive a
1933 Chevy all-steel,
three-window coupe
sporting a 450-hp en-
gine.
