Low-Income Energy Assistance Program receives extra fundng
Lane County has received
additional
LIHEAP-20
funding. This funding is
part of the regular Low-In-
come Energy Assistance
Program offered each year
through Lane County Hu-
man Services.
It is separate from
COVID-19 relief programs.
The LIHEAP-20 pro-
gram helps income-quali-
fied households with their
home energy expenses.
This is the same program
that opened Oct. 1 of last
year.
Households that have
already received a LI-
HEAP-20 payment won’t
qualify for a second LI-
HEAP payment in the cur-
rent program year.
LIHEAP-20
provides
qualifying households with
a one-time payment toward
their energy bill. It may be
applied to electricity, nat-
ural gas, home heating oil,
propane, wood pellets and
wood.
To qualify for LI-
HEAP-20, a household’s
current gross monthly in-
come must be at or below
60 percent of Oregon’s me-
dian income.
A household of one
person can have a gross
monthly income as high as
$2,165. A household of four
can have a gross month-
ly income of up to $4,163.
Households do not need to
demonstrate being affected
by COVID-19 to quality.
The amount of assistance
a household receives de-
pends on a number of fac-
tors.
The program pays the
assistance directly into a
household’s utility account
as a one-time payment that
ranges from $250 to $550.
Interested
households
may call one of the agencies
listed below to be placed on
a LIHEAP-20 waiting list
starting on Monday, August
24, 2020 at 9 a.m.
Households may also
place themselves on a LI-
HEAP-20 agency’s waiting
list by visiting www.lan-
ecounty.org/energyassis-
tance.
Households that do have
a senior citizen (60 and
over), contact:
2-7810
• Florence Senior Con-
nections — 541-682-7835
Households that don’t
have a senior citizen, con-
tact:
• Siuslaw Outreach Ser-
vices in Florence — 541-
997-2816
Households that have
already received a regular
LIHEAP-20 payment can
instead apply for an EAS-
CR-20 payment and/or
a CARES payment if the
household has been affect-
ed by COVID-19 financial-
ly or due to health.
More information about
those programs is available
at www.lanecounty.org/en-
ergyassistance.
There are additional En-
ergy Assistance programs
available in Lane County
that are specific to utility
companies.
Customers can call their
utility company for infor-
mation on these programs.
