ane Dale of Florida, Lin-
da Wagner of Standish,
Calif., and Elaine Dale of
Santa Cruz, Calif.; eight
grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.

Ore., in lieu of flowers as
there will not be any ser-
vices at this time.

Florence Police Department offers tips to help
keep vehicles, valuables safe from theives
The Florence Police De-
partment has taken almost
a dozen reports in less than
three weeks of unlawful en-
try into a motor vehicle.
Thefts from a vehicle
generally have one thing in
common: personal belong-
ings, such as purses, bags,
clothing, laptops and other
electronic devices are left in
vehicles.
Keep in mind anything
can be of value to a thief.
• Always roll up vehi-
cle windows and lock all
doors.
• Hide your personal be-
longings. If you leave prop-
erty visible in your vehicle,
your vehicle is automatical-
ly a target.
• Store items in your
trunk before you arrive on-
site; avoid storing items in
your trunk after you park.
• Remember, a thief may
be watching the area before
committing crimes.
• Keep cell phone cords
and other electronic acces-
sories out of sight. Thieves
are willing to break a win-
dow when they see a cord
because there is a chance
that a device will be in the
vehicle.
• A thief may be able to
detect the Bluetooth signal
on electronic devices. Place
your electronics in airplane
mode or turn off the Blue-
tooth/Wi-Fi option, then
power off your electronic
devices.
Put away devices before
you get to the parking lot.
These types of crimes
occur at all hours, day and
night.
By taking a few sim-
ple steps, you can make it
harder to be a target and
discourage
individuals
from committing crimes of
opportunity.

Lane County Public Health (LCPH) —

LCPH was notified of 7 additional positive cases for
COVID-19. This makes a total of 637 cases. (Note: that
this includes confirmed and presumptive.
• Hospitalized: 1 (no change)
• Deaths: 4 (no change)
• Infectious: 31 (+9)
• Confirmed cases in the 97439 zip code: 18
• Total tests conducted for Lane County: 49,140
Oregon Health Authority (OHA) —
(As of Aug. 18, at noon)
The state’s death toll from COVID-19 is unchanged
from Aug. 16 and remains at 388.
Oregon Health Authority reported 192 new confirmed
and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state
total to 23,451.
New cases are in the following counties: Clackamas
(12), Clatsop (1), Columbia (3), Crook (1), Deschutes
(6), Douglas (2), Jackson (17), Jefferson (2), Josephine
(1), Lane (7), Lincoln (2), Linn (5), Malheur (11), Mar-
