She spent her earliest years
with her family in Skykom-
ish, Wash.
The Love family — Rudy
and Ida Love, and children
Beverly, David and Lois —
moved to Mapleton, Ore.,
in 1951.
Lois graduated from Ma-
pleton High School in 1959.
When she was working
at Lane County Bank, Lois
met her future husband,
Roger Paul Claspill. They
were married on Oct. 5,
1963, and settled in Flor-
ence, Ore.
In 1965 their son Roger Jr.
was born, and in 1968 their
daughter Trudy was born.
Lois worked at several
Florence-area businesses,
including banks and gro-
cery stores, but her favorite
job was working at the Flor-
ence Area Humane Society
until her retirement, where
she fulfilled her lifelong love
for animals.
Lois loved camping with
her husband in their motor
home, which they did with
a local travel group.
Lois is survived by her
husband, Roger, her chil-
dren Roger Jr. and Trudy,
and her brother David Love.
For health and safety rea-
sons, no celebration of life
is being scheduled at this
time.
In lieu of flowers, please
consider making a donation
to a local animal rescue or-
ganization such as the Ore-
gon Coast Humane Society.

are holding registrations events from
Tuesday, Aug. 11, to Thursday, Aug.
13. This event is for all students en-
rolling in hybrid or Comprehensive
Distance Models.
Registration times are:
• Tuesday, Aug. 11: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Wednesday, Aug. 12: noon to 6
p.m.
• Thursday, Aug. 13: 9 a.m. to 3
p.m.

child’s school in order to register.

Oak St., Siuslaw Middle School is at
2525 Oak St. and Siuslaw High School
is at 2975 Oak St.
“This information is vital to our
efforts to create classes and plan for
various reopening models,” the school

Public fire restrictions now in effect in Siuslaw National Forest

with the recent moisture,
the trend of increasingly
hot and dry weather has
resulted in hazardous fire
conditions on the Siuslaw
National Forest.
In an effort to prevent
human-caused
wildland
fires and to promote fire
awareness, US Forest Ser-
vice officials have insti-
tuted some public use fire
restrictions across all ar-
eas of the Siuslaw National
Forest.
Prohibitions include:
• Campfires not con-
tained within a pre-in-
stalled fire enclosure at an
official developed camp-
site. This excludes camp-
fires within designated
sand camping areas on the
Oregon Dunes National
Recreation Area and dis-
persed camping within the
Sand Lake Recreation Area.
• Welding or operating a
torch with an open flame.
• Operating generators
in areas of vegetation.
• Using a vehicle off US
Forest Service roads, ex-
cept when parking in an
area devoid of vegetation
for 10 feet. This excludes
recreation on the Oregon
Dunes National Recreation
Area and the Sand Lake
Recreation Area.
• Smoking outdoors in
close proximity to flamma-
ble materials or vegetation.
Visitors may use porta-
ble cooking stoves and fuel
lanterns with off switches
when recreating outside of
COVID-19 Relief available for Oregon fishing businesses
SALEM—Oregon’s appli-
cation period for potential
assistance for COVID-19
impacts to fishing-related
businesses is now open and
extends through Sept. 8,
2020.
Background information,
eligibility requirements and
application materials can be
found on the Pacific States
Marine Fisheries Com-
mission (PSMFC) website
www.psmfc.org.
All applications must
be completed, signed and
mailed to the PSMFC with a
postmark no later than the
Sept. 8, 2020 deadline.
Fishing businesses are a
vital part of Oregon’s eco-
nomic and cultural health,
and impacts from the
COVID-19 pandemic have
taken a serious toll on these
businesses and the commu-
nities they support.
“Marine and anadromous
fisheries are vital to the eco-
nomic and cultural health
of the state. We know busi-
nesses on the front lines of
these fisheries are hurting,
and we hope these feder-
al and state funds will help
provide emergency relief
for some of the pandemic’s
impacts this past spring.
We encourage all eligible
fishery businesses to apply,”
says Ed Bowles, ODFW Fish
Division Administrator.
Consistent with Section
12005 of the federal CARES
Act, NOAA Fisheries allo-
cated nearly $16M to eligi-
ble Oregon businesses par-
ticipating in marine and/
or anadromous fisheries.
ODFW developed a spend
plan for eligibility and claim
requirements
consistent
with the CARES Act after
extensive input from the
fishing industry. NOAA re-
cently approved the Spend
Plan, which allows the ap-
plication period to begin.
In recognition by coast-
al legislators and other
state leaders that these fed-
eral funds would be un-
likely to address all of the
COVID-19 impacts to Or-
egon’s fisheries industry,
an additional $2.5 million
of state CARES Act relief
funds were distributed by
the Oregon Department of
Administrative Services to
PSMFC for support.
PSMFC will distribute the
funds as supplemental pay-
ments to recipients of the
federal CARES Act funds.
PSMFC disbursements
could begin in September
2020.
