She first vis- ited Florence 20 years ago and has lived in the community full-time for eight years. During her interview, Kuhlman shared with the library board that part of her reason for selecting Florence as her chosen retirement com- munity was the quality of the Siuslaw Public Li- brary District. Since her permanent relocation to Florence, Kuhlman has been an active volunteer and board member for both the Seacoast Entertain- ment Association and the Western Lane Com- munity Foundation. When asked what drew her to apply for a position on the Siuslaw Public Library Dis- trict Board of Directors, Kuhlman shared, “In the course of being a very active patron of the (Siuslaw Public) library, I’ve come to admire the breadth of ways it is in- volved with the commu- nity. “Libraries today are much more than a col- lection of books, they provide resources to address a multitude of needs such as access to computers...I love the li- brary, I love books and I love this community. “Committing my time and energy to an orga- nization that directly benefits the community excites me.” with non-potable water is available to help with rinsing the portable toi- let or bucket.
