OHA announces new mask requirements website
Face coverings, or
masks, are now required
statewide for all adults
and, starting July 24, for
all children age 5 and up
in all indoor public spac-
es and outdoors when
physical distancing isn’t
possible.
To help Oregonians
understand the require-
ment, the Oregon Health
Authority has created
a website resource that
aims to be a clearing-
house of the latest infor-
mation about face cov-
erings and masks, from
requirements to FAQs to
tips about how to effec-
tively wear them.
Controlling the spread
of COVID-19 in Ore-
gon requires all of us
to do our part. Emerg-
ing evidence shows that
wearing a mask help can
help protect against the
spread and catching of
COVID-19.
The virus is spread
by respiratory droplets
when people cough,
sneeze, talk, laugh or
sing.
Face coverings help
contain those droplets.
The virus can be
spread by people who do
not have symptoms and
likely don’t know they
are infected.
When properly worn,
a face covering should
cover a person’s nose
and mouth and fit snug-
ly against the sides of the
face. Many types of face
coverings can be used,
including
handmade
cloth face coverings,
scarves, bandanas and
more.
They should be washed
frequently after using.
COVID 19 is wide-
spread in the state. All
Oregonians can work
together to flatten the
curve and lower our risk
of getting it or giving it to
others by:
• Covering our faces
when six feet of physical
distancing is not possi-
ble;
•
Avoiding
large
crowds and limit our so-
cial gatherings;
• Washing our hands;
• Staying home if we’re
sick.

Oregon Health Authority (OHA) —
(As of July 23, at Noon)
Lane County has 419 cases* (+7), 42 cases that are currently
infectious (-4), and 3 suspected COVID-19 deaths as of 8
a.m on July 23. Two people are currently hospitalized. At
least 35,526 tests have been conducted for Lane County
residents**.
*Per Oregon Health Authority guidelines, health agencies
on Oregon are now combining confirmed and presumptive
cases in their reporting.
Presumptive cases are people who had 15 minutes or more
exposure within 6 feet to a known case and are displaying
symptoms consistent with COVID-19, but who do not yet
have lab confirmation. The definition of infectious is cases
that are 10 days or fewer from symptom onset.
**Note: this number is likely below the actual number of
tests conducted. Private labs are processing tests from Lane
County residents and there is variability in reporting of
negative results.
Lane County Public Health is being notified of any positive
test results

COVID-19 claimed two more lives in Oregon, raising the
state’s death toll to 273.
Oregon Health Authority reported 331 new confirmed and
presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to
15,713.
The new cases are in the following counties: Clackamas
(18), Columbia (3), Coos (3), Crook (1), Deschutes (18),
Douglas (13), Hood River (1), Jackson (8), Jefferson (3),
Josephine (3), Klamath (13), Lake (1), Lane (12), Lincoln
(5), Linn (3), Malheur (10), Marion (39), Morrow (4),
Multnomah (77), Polk (13), Tillamook (1), Umatilla (39),
Wasco (6), Washington (33), and Yamhill (4).
