OBITUARIES
NOVELLI—The fam-
ilies of Kyle and Amber
Novelli are saddened to
share their death in a trag-
ic accident off the coast
of Florence, Ore., in their
boat The Aquarius on June
29, 2020.
Kyle and Amber Novelli
The Aquarius was hit by
a rouge wave while Kyle
and Amber were crabbing
off the South Jetty of the
Port of Siuslaw.
Kyle is survived by his
son, Kody Novelli; his par-
ents Larry and Barbara
Novelli; and brother, Scott
Novelli; nephew Kapp No-
velli; and niece Tatum No-
velli.
Amber is survived
by her mother, Barbara
Richards; her sister Jamie
Walton; brother Tom-
my Segali; her sons: Joe
Reynolds, Daniel James
(D.J.) Reynolds; daughter
Emily Padilla; and grand-
kids: Maddison Reynolds,
Jaci Reynolds and Parker
Reynolds.
Amber and Kyle had
developed the very popu-
lar Novelli Crab and Sea-
food Shack; Amber daily
made her crab chowder
and shared her enthusias-
tic, contagious personality
and Kyle brought in the
crab she used in the four-
time award-winning crab
chowder.
A quote from a recent
Siuslaw News feature on
them: “Both their person-
alities will forever leave a
lasting impression on any-
one who met them.”
Both families feel some
comfort that they died to-
gether doing what they
both loved crabbing and
being on the ocean.”
Once group gatherings
are allowed again, a cele-
bration of life will be held
for Amber and Kyle both
in Florence and Pacific
Grove, Calif.
Announcements
will
be in local papers in both
towns.

GNAU— Jerry Robert
Gnau, 84, passed away
peacefully July 10, 2020,
at his daughter’s house in
Portland, Ore.
Jerry was born Aug. 5,
1935, in Marshfield, Ore.
He was raised in Florence
and told
m a n y
tales
of
the
fun
t i m e s
and mis-
haps he
had with
Jerry Gnau his three
broth-
ers (Ray,
Bert and Dick) and their
friends.
Jerry was the beloved
husband of Norma Skinner
Gnau, who died in 2012.
Since that time, he wanted
nothing more than to join
her.
They were married in
Reno, Nev., July 17, 1964,
and had one daughter,
Kimberly Jarvis, of Port-
land, Ore.
He is survived by her
and his grandsons, Joss
and Jared Jarvis.
Jerry joined the U.S.
Navy in 1954 and served
aboard the USS York-
town. Upon completion
of his service, he returned
to Florence and worked at
sawmills until moving to
Albany in 1974. He worked
at Teledyne Wah Chang as
a millwright until he re-
tired in 1997.
He then returned to
Florence to live out his lat-
er years and be closer to
family.
Jerry enjoyed shooting
pool and was ranked 13th
in the state at one point. He
also enjoyed making things
in his shop. He made and
sold pool cues as well as
jewelry, wooden boxes and
puzzles.
Jerry also loved spend-
ing time at the casino and
could be seen there almost
every morning enjoying
breakfast and playing the
slot machines.
Arrangements
were
made through Burns’s Riv-
erside Chapel.
