manity invites community
members to decorate their
front porches and show
their Independence Day
spirit.
With the Fourth of July
Porch Parade, people can
unleash their creativity
by decorating their front
porch.
Don’t have a porch? Dec-
orate your lawn, the side-
walk, a window or garage
door — anything visible
from the street.
The first 50 homes to
register will have a Porch
Parade yard sign placed at
their home. A map will be
created so people can walk
or drive through the com-
munity to view the partic-
ipants.
All winners will receive a
winners yard sign and:
• First place: $200 Laurel
Bay Gift Card
• 2nd place: $100 Habitat
ReStore Gift Card
• 3rd place: Custom
porch sign from Wren’s
Nest
Businesses can also par-
ticipate, with one business
winning $260 in advertis-

Join Siuslaw Watershed
Council online for a virtu-
al screening of “The Story
of Plastic” with a live Q&A
on Wednesday, July 1, at 6
p.m. This film is presented
in partnership with the Siu-
slaw Chapter of Surfrider
Foundation.
“The Story of Plastic”
brings into focus an alarm-
ing, man-made crisis and
the heroes who are working
every day to rise up against
big plastic.
After the film, people can
learn more from panelists

“The book covers
