Dutch Bros Foundation supports Florence Food Share
F
lorence Food Share, a nonprofit
dedicated to alleviating food inse-
curity throughout the Siuslaw region,
and Dutch Bros Foundation, the phil-
anthropic arm of Dutch Bros Coffee,
are providing much-needed as-
sistance to those impacted by the
economic fallout of the coronavi-
rus pandemic. The foundation’s
gift of $693 can help address in-
creasing need for food security as
the numbers of unemployment
and furloughed workers grow.
The gift is part of a larger $1
million commitment made by the
Dutch Bros Foundation to assist
organizations in its seven operat-
ing states. Partnering with local
food banks allows the donation
to make an immediate impact in
areas hit hardest by COVID-19.
“Dutch Bros has always been about
people first, and we feel fortunate to be
working with our longtime partners in
meeting community needs,” said Katie
Hutchinson, vice president of philan-

Through the Dutch Bros Founda-
tion, coupled with our annual “Dutch
Luv” day give-back in February, we
hope to ease the hardship many face in
simply putting food on the table. This
gift is one more way we can show up
and make a difference.
The mission of the Florence Food
Share is to alleviate hunger and en-
hance the health and dignity of people
in Lane County. They are an emergen-
cy food pantry offering free food in
a shopping style experience for peo-
ple with low incomes. They provide
a three to five day supply of food per
household to about 4,000 people
a year. Supplemental perishable
foods are also available in the
lobby, serving an average of 100
people daily. Florence Food Share
also grows nearly 10,000 pounds
of food yearly in their production
garden.
The Dutch Bros Foundation,
the philanthropic arm of Dutch
Bros Coffee, supports programs
and projects in three core areas:
youth, health, and origins (sourc-
es of its coffee bean). Each year
since its inception in 2016 as the
Love Abounds Foundation, it has giv-
en several million dollars to local, state
and national causes.

sions are being made all
across the state,” said Rachel
Bivens, Lane Events Center
marketing manager and as-
sistant fair organizer. “Safe-
ty is always our top priority
for our fairgoers, exhibitors,
vendors and others, but that
doesn’t make it any less dev-
astating to cancel an event
that families look forward
to every summer, and that
many vendors depend on
for income.”
Fair organizers are work-
ing now to contact vendors
and provide them with in-
formation about the cancel-
lation. Tickets had not yet
gone on sale to the general
public.
“We will look for creative
and safe ways to welcome
the community to the Lane
County Fairgrounds over
the summer, and begin
planning to welcome fair-
goers back for a spectacular
Lane County Fair in 2021,”
said Bivens.
The Lane County Fair has
been held annually in one
form or another since the
1800s. There have been no
previous cancellations of the
Fair in recent memory.

Advice from a Funeral Director…
It’s always good to listen, but before you sign up for cremation or burial arrange-
ments with an out of town advertiser representing themselves as your “local
