WEDNESDAY EDITION | MAY 6, 2020 | $1.00 THESIUSLAWNEWS.COM Community & Lifestyle Non-residents restrictions lifted for fishing, hunting As of Tuesday (May 5), non-res- idents are once again allowed to fi sh and hunt in Oregon, although recreational clamming and crab- bing will remain closed to non-res- idents until further notice. ODFW lift ed the non-resident restrictions in line with some loos- ening of restrictions on outdoor recreation in the state and region. Washington state also reopened to most fi shing on Tuesday. Ore- gon and Washington will reopen salmon and steelhead fi shing on the Columbia River next week, with both states holding a Joint State Hearing last week to set the reopener. Due to concerns about increased travel to the coast during the sum- mer months while the COVID-19 pandemic continues, crabbing and clamming will remain closed to non-residents for now. Oregon residents who do not live on the coast should also not travel there to crab or clam while the “Stay Home, Save Lives” restrictions against travel are in eff ect. Most of you know that before I started selling real estate 15 years ago, I had restaurants—Windward Inn for 4 years and Gingerbread Village for 25 years. I depended on certain times to make money to get me thru and the restaurants here are missing those. Spring break was big and even Rhody festival. But the really big day was Mother’s Day which is coming up without any of us being able to go out . Th ere are a number of restaurants doing takeout. It may be small but utilizing that takeout might help them some.
