2B | WEDNESDAY, MAY 6, 2020 | SIUSLAW NEWS ODFW opens recreational clamming open from Siuslaw to Cape Argo The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) announce the opening of razor clam harvesting on the south-central Oregon coast. Recreational and com- mercial razor clam harvest- ing is now open from the Columbia River to Cascade Head (north of Lincoln City) and open from the south jetty of the Siuslaw River (in Florence) to Cape Arago (south of Coos Bay). Recent samples taken from this area indicate the marine biotoxin domoic acid has dropped below the closure limit. Recreational and com- mercial razor clamming remains closed from Cas- cade Head to the north jet- ty of the Siuslaw River and closed from Cape Arago to the California border, for elevated levels of domoic acid toxin. Bay clams, crab and mussel harvesting are open along the entire Oregon coastline. Contact ODFW for recreational li-cense re- quirements, permits, rules and limits. For more information call ODA’s shellfish safety information hotline at 800- 448-2474 or visit the ODA Recreational Shellfish Bio- toxin Closures webpage. Tax Problems: RESOLVED There are many ways we can tackle IRS or State tax relief together: Teachers Resolve Back Taxes Tax Levies & Liens Release from 1B Wage Garnishment Release Payroll Tax Negotiation Tax Preparation & Bookkeeping Services Stop Penalties and Interest “Since this is Teacher Appreciation Week, we were really feeling how hard it is for everyone,” Graham said. “This is hard on us, but we now have come to realize that we have brand new teachers in our district this year, and there are home teachers who are teaching their kids at home. What we wanted to do was turn around our thank you and say, ‘We see you, and we appreciate you’ to our home teachers.” The video thanks the people who have had to teach math, science, reading, social studies, art and music to kids, all from home. “We thank you and ap- preciate all that you are doing so that your kids, ODFW from 1B Beach access may also be closed. “We want to thank non-residents for their un- derstanding of the tempo- rary closure,” said ODFW Director Curt Melcher. “We are also announc- ing a special refund poli- cy for non-residents who purchased fi shing license documents between April 6-15, which is about the time when Washington announced their extended closure of all hunting and fi shing.” All hunters and anglers are reminded to: • Check for access before you go. Fishing is open but the boat ramp or park where you want to go might be closed. ODFW does not control access to land or facilities it doesn’t manage so check with the land manager or facility owner where you want to go about what’s open. • Stick close to home. Don’t travel far to hunt or fi sh. Most places are closed to overnight camping/ lodging. • Be prepared. Re- strooms and other facili- ties may be more limited. Bring your own soap, wa- ter, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, food, etc. Buy your license online before you go. • Stay home if you are sick. • Avoid crowds. Go someplace else if your des- tination looks crowded. • Practice social distanc- ing. Keep six feet between you and anyone who doesn’t live in your imme- diate household. • Wash your hands of- ten. Keep up on personal hygiene and bring your own water, soap, and hand sanitizer with you. • Pack out what you pack in. Take any garbage with you, including disposable gloves and masks. Special non-resident refund policy • For Anglers: Non-resi- dents who purchased fi sh- ing licensing documents (such as a daily, multi-day or annual fi shing or shell- fi sh license, combined an- gling tag and associated products) between April 6-15 may request a re- fund for all of these fi shing products provided they did not keep any fi sh or shellfi sh. • For Hunters: Non-res- Tax Debt Negotiation & Settlement ACCREDITED BUSINESS ® A+ Rating Call us now for your FREE tax consultation & evaluation: 844-945-2056 Anthem offers a money-back guarantee designed to help you avoid wasting money on ineffective tax services. We recognize and appreciate all your efforts as teach- ers on the home front.” To watch the video, go to www.facebook.com/ sesvikings/. Request a refund at www. odfw.wufoo.com/forms/ nonresident-refund-re- quest-a-covid19-period/ Th e April 6-15 timeframe for providing fi shing license refunds is based on the state of Washington’s April 6 decision to extend its clo- sure of fi shing in that state. ODFW saw an increase in non-resident sales aft er this announcement but many of these customers may not have had a chance to use their fi shing license before Oregon closed to non-resi- dents on April 11. Non-residents can also continue to apply for fall controlled hunts. Th e dead- line to apply for all fall con- trolled hunts remains May 15 for both residents and non-residents. As already announced, tag refund and preference point reinstatement is also available to non-residents and residents who pur- chased a spring bear tag and were unable to hunt in 2020 due to the travel re- strictions.
