OBITUARIES
ORY—On
Thursday,
Feb. 27, 2020, Kenneth Paul
Ory, 77, loving husband
and father of four children,
passed away peacefully af-
ter a valiant five year battle
against bone cancer.
Ken was born in Auro-
ra, Il., on Feb. 9, 1943, to
Myron E and Violet E. Ory,
who pro-
ceeded him
in
death,
and so were
there
to
welcome
him home.
He is sur-
by
Kenneth Ory vived
his wife of
55 years, Dorrit; his four
daughters: Alicia, Rena,
Christina and Rachel;
three sons-in-law, nine
brothers, four sisters, four
grandchildren, as well as a
granddaughter, grandson-
in-law, four great-grand-
children and many won-
derful nieces and nephews.
He was born in Illi-
nois, raised in California,
served four years in the
U.S. Air Force as an aircraft
woodworker, and went on
to build full-size wood-
en mock-ups of the B-1
bomber, the space shuttle
and many other prototypes
of aircraft through North
American Rockwell.
He grew up in Califor-
nia but made his perma-
nent home in Florence,
Ore., since 1975. He was
an amazing woodworker
and he and his wife opened
Florence Cabinets in 1977.
As Florence grew, so did
their business, and Ken
built a new building in
Florence in 1992 called the
Orygon Home Center. His
life’s work can be seen in
many, many homes, busi-
nesses, schools, hospitals,
banks, bars and restaurants
that have his cabinets, store
fixtures and countertops in
them — all up and down
the Oregon coast.
He was a good man,
an excellent craftsman, a
husband, father, brother,
grandfather, great-grand-
father and uncle, a local
business owner for over 40
years, and an avid poker
player where he met and
made many new friends
who became like family.
He will be missed by
many.
A gathering of friends
will be planned at a later
date.
COOLEY—Ross Cool-
ey, 60, passed away Feb.
20, 2020.
Gone way too soon. Ev-
eryone misses you!
Born in Eugene, Ore.,
Ross graduated from Shel-
don High School in 1977.
In 1989, he married Mar-
jorie at the Eugene Yacht
Club.
He was
preceded
in death by
his father,
Bill,
and
his brother,
Neal.
He
is
Ross Cooley
survived
by his wife Marjorie Cool-
ey; his mother Morrie
Cooley; brother Lee and
sister Jan; nieces Erin and
Maureen; nephews Neal
and Paul.
Out of high school,
Ross worked at Trust Joist
(which changed to Weyer-
haeuser) for 37 years be-
fore retiring in 2016.
In 2018, he and Mar-
jorie moved to Florence
to a gated community in
Florentine Estates, which
was close to the beach for
walking.
Starting in the early
1960s, his family joined
the Eugene Yacht Club,
where the family spent late
spring, summers and fall
sailing, racing and socializ-
ing with the families at the
club. Ross kept sailing and
racing until about 10 years
ago.
Then things changed to
RVing in their motor home
up and down the Oregon
coast.
Ross enjoyed Nascar
on Sundays and texting
friends; old TV shows like
“Mash” and Twlight Zone
on New Years; books and
movies about the Kenned-
ys and Hardy Boys adven-
tures; music of all kinds;
and walks on the beach
wearing his favorite hat.
Ross was a kind, gentle
person who loved talking
to people and listening.
He is greatly missed.
A celebration of Ross’s
life will be held at the Eu-
gene Yacht Club on Bangs
Road on May 31, from
noon to 3 p.m.

As his wife, I want to
thank everyone for the
beautiful cards and flow-
ers I have received — and
also the wonderful words
of support.
Much love, Marjorie.
