March 2020 • Florence Arts & Entertainment • Center Stage • 5 CROW holds auditions for Dance Showcase On March 14, CROW will hold open auditions for any dancer (ages 6+) interested in a solo/duet/small group performance piece in this year’s 2020 Spring Dance Showcase. Th ese public performances are in celebration of all forms of dance, and will take place on May 8 and 9 at the Florence Events Center. To be considered, dancers MUST attend the audition on Sat- urday, March 14, at 2:30 p.m. at the CROW Center for the Performing Arts, 3120 Highway 101 in Flor- ence. Dancers should wear dance shoes and dance attire, and bring a device such as an MP3 player, phone, or tablet with the music track on it. CROW will provide a speaker you can connect to. “Your piece does not have to be 100% fi nished, but it must show a good amount of the choreography, plus the expression, style, and tech- nique of the dancer,” said CROW’s Artistic Director Melanie Heard. “Th e more complete the piece is, the better.” Dancers should be prepared to discuss performance costumes if asked (which must be approved in advance by CROW). Choreog- raphy and music must not have profanity or inappropriate words/ movements, and must be appropriate for all audi- ences. Th is audition is open to ALL dancers involved in classes (either with CROW or at another location), pri- vate lessons, self-choreogra- phy, and any other people/ small groups that would like to give it a try. Space is limited in the showcase, and the audition will be judged by a panel of CROW judges includ- ing CROW dance teachers, board members and production team members. Auditioning does not guarantee you a spot in the pro- gram. Dancers will be notifi ed shortly aft er the audition if they have been accepted.
