FUUF to honor Winter
Solstice this Sunday
On Sunday, Dec. 22, be-
ginning at 10 a.m. at the
Florence Unitarian Uni-
versalist Fellowship, Dr.
Rev. Ruth Miller will lead
the service titled: “Celebra-
tions of Light.”
Long before the New
Testament stories were
written, people all over the
northern hemisphere hon-
ored the nights around the
winter solstice.
Jews and Celts, Greeks
and Romans, and more
peoples, everywhere, cele-
brated the birth of the Son
of the Sun. They did so in
many beautiful and mysti-
cal ways — some of which
will be practiced this Sun-
day at FUUF, honoring
several holidays that are
all happening at once this
year.
Bring evergreen branch-
es to place on an altar and
your favorite holiday treat
for refreshments after the
service.
FUUF, 87738 Highway
101 at Heceta Beach Road,
is wheelchair accessible.
Each service concludes
with refreshments and a
dialogue circle to explore
the questions that come up
during each worship ser-
vice.
