The party will be held Wednes- day, Dec. 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Florence Elks Lodge #1858, 1686 12th St. The holiday party provides din- ner and presents for local families. The Tree of Joy Christmas Par- ty gives the opportunity for Flor- ence-area families to share in the experience of a community holiday party in sensory safe environment. The holiday party will provide a comfortable space in social setting. It will include dinner, presents for the kids, arts and crafts and even Santa, who will make an appear- ance. The overall goal is to bring families together outside of their homes to enjoy fun, accessible com- munity events. Organizers are looking for dona- tions from local companies within the Florence community to help make this a successful event. Cur- rently, there are two gift cans at Fred Meyer, where people can drop off gifts, and a donation jar at the front desk of Bi-Mart. “We are hoping to make contact with some other stores to place do- nation jars,” said Nancy Berge, The Arc Families Connected Director. “Homegrown Public House just did the most amazing fundraiser for us, bringing in quite a lot of money through the ‘Keg for a Cause.’ I’m just sending a thank you to them from Florence Autism Family Sup- port.” The Arc Families Connected is a nonprofit agency that helps parents who are raising a child with an intel- lectual and developmental disabili- ty. It believes in supporting families in ways that fosters family empow- erment, promotes high expectations and encourages active and fulfilling lives in the community. Donations for the Tree of Joy Christmas Party would be greatly appreciated. The Arc Families Con- nected non-profit tax identification number is 93-6001786.
