The SOS focus has always been to assist clients to find solutions to their situation and provide them with the means and strength to overcome personal barri- ers. Florence Unitarian Uni- versalist Fellowship’s of- fering for November and December will go to Flor- ence’s local KXCR public radio. Also, the Boys and Girls Club of Western Lane County and Florence Food Share will receive upcom- ing donations within this fiscal year. Yachats Ladies Club’s Christmas Bazaar runs Dec. 6 to 8 Unitarians look at holiness The Yachats Ladies Club’s 92nd annual Christmas Ba- zaar will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday through Sunday, Dec. 6 to 8, Yach- ats Ladies Club Clubhouse, 286 W Third and Pontiac streets in Yachats. Admis- sion to this family-friendly event is free. This is the lon- gest-running holiday bazaar in the county and it affords the public an opportunity to find wonderful and un- usual handmade gift items and support the local com- munity at the same time. All items are handmade by club members. On Saturday only, a deli- cious homemade lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and pie slices will be served all day. The cheery holiday deco- rations throughout the club- house create a warm holiday atmosphere that welcomes all who enter. People will find a huge array of clever, beautiful and useful hand- made items all made by club members. In addition, each year the club offers a handmade quilt to raise money for the Yach- ats Ladies Club Scholarship Fund. It will be on display during the weekend. Tickets are $1 each and will be sold throughout the weekend until the drawing on Sunday 2 p.m. Winner will be noti- fied by phone. Inside the Christmas Ba- zaar, there will be all kinds of knitted items; jewelry; journals; holiday decor in- cluding silk flower arrange- ments, ornaments, Christ- mas aprons and place mats; beautiful and sturdy tote bags; afghans; small quilts; cards and bookmarks; baby items including booties, hats and afghans; gifts for children; aprons for men and women in a variety of fabrics; casserole carriers; pet gifts including doggie scarves and doggie cookies much more. New items include micro- waveable foot warmers and therapeutic neck wraps/pil- lows. Many of these items are exclusive to the Yachats Ladies Club. The club is also able to accept credit cards this year. A wonderful selection of delightful holiday edible goodies, including candies, cakes, cookies and breads, will be sold as well. There will be a selection of large cookies which are new to the Goodie Table. This is the last chance of the year for the famous Yachats Ladies Club pie and a generous selection will be on offer starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday. To-go boxes are available, as are coffee and tea. Lunch will be served on Saturday only. The menu is delicious and hearty homemade chili and cornbread for $7, with a vegetarian option available. Marcia Pearce will deliver a message titled, “Let’s Make it Holy Again.” Pearce asks, “Do old, long distance memories ever sud- denly pop into your head, bringing back more peaceful times? Did times back then, seem easier than now? I didn’t have much money for Christmas in those days, but we did have lots of fun mak- ing Christmas ‘holy.’ Can we turn those wonderful inner lights back on and make it all holy again?” The fellowship is locat- ed at 87738 Highway 101 at Heceta Beach Road and is wheelchair accessible. Each service concludes with re- freshments and a dialogue circle to explore the ques- tions that come up during each worship service. Kiwanis to play Very Merry Family Movie Night Dec. 16 The community is invited to join the Florence Kiwanis Club for a free Very Merry Family Movie Night. The club will be showing “The Polar Express” on Monday, Dec. 16, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at City Lights Cinemas, 1930 Highway 101. Free cookies will be pro- vided by Kiwanis and Dutch Bros. will provide free hot chocolate for kids. General concessions will be available for purchase from City Lights Cinemas.
