Kel- ly, 76, formerly of Florence, passed away Oct.18, 2019, in Albany, Ore., where she had resided for the past 15 years. Sharon then graduated from South Eu- gene High School in 1961. She went on to graduate from the Eugene Techni- cal-Vocational School in 1963 with a degree in prac- tical nursing. Sharon married Ramon (Monty) Deardorff on Feb. 15, 1964, and the couple was married for 35 years. In 1977, they moved to Florence, Ore., where the two co-owned Siuslaw Au- tomotive & Towing until 1999. She enjoyed caring for the family horses with her daughters as well as help- ing others. Sharon was a member of PeaceHealth Hospital Auxiliary as well as the Florence Police De- partment Auxiliary. Sharon graduated from the Police Reserve Acade- my on June 13, 1996. Medlock, 75, peacefully joined so many other lov- ing relatives and friends before him on Oct. 22, 2019. Kurt was born in Og- den, Utah, to Lois Hannah Medlock ( C hu g g ) and Ken- n e t h Medlock. H e lived a full and happy life. This Kurt Medlock included being a communication specialist in the U.S. Army after joining at age 17. He was discharged in 1966 in Colorado after being stationed in Fort Louis, Wash., and South Korea. After moving from Col- orado to California and taking a job in the trucking industry, his father-in-law in Oregon invited him to explore the prospects of the beautiful landscapes and logging industries of Florence, Ore. He quickly fell in love with the natural beauty and peaceful surroundings. Kurt’s first job opportu- nity was in 1978 at Inter- national Paper in Gardiner, Ore.. The job quickly blos- somed into a career, work- ing there until its closure in 1992. He wanted to fulfill his desire to help others’ needs and the community he dearly cared for. So, he pulled off his boots and traded them for sneakers to attend Lane Community College in Eugene; driving everyday for two years to graduate with his RV Tech- nicians Degree. Kurt was a fighter. He stunned his doctors and showed he had “nine lives” by beating stage-four can- cer at the age of 49 and then any ailment that dared to tangle with him. Kurt never knew a stranger and was always ready and willing to help anyone. A longtime Flor- ence resident, Kurt was known as the “Honey-DO Man,” doing handyman jobs. It may surprise some to learn that Kurt was a life- long Mormon. His dedica- tion to family and friends was like none other. Kurt is survived by his sisters: Alexis Swearingen of Missouri and Pat Over- ton of California; and their children; his daughter, Re- becca J. Rodet and her two daughters, Courtney P. and Hannah J. Rodet. He will be greatly missed by his family and his be- loved soulmate of 15 years, Betty Smith. Please come join us to celebrate his life with his family on Friday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m., at the LDS Church (2705 Munsel Lake Road). There will be a private military honors ceremony with inturment at Rose- burg National Cemetery at a later date. FALL IS HERE! Are your boots ready?
