W hile Florence’s motto is being a “City in Motion,” a group of community members took pause on Sunday to quietly honor the unborn and women in crisis situations. The group carried signs at multiple places on Highway 101 and silently prayed in support. “I was surprised at how many good honks and waves we received with very few dissenting motions,” said one of the vigil’s attendees. “The kind waves and smiles really made it worth my time.” In 2018, more than 1,500 chains were held in com- munities, including Florence. This year, chains occurred throughout the U.S. and Canada as a means of silently protesting the millions of lives lost to abortion. Teddy Roosevelt tribute to visit Reedsport Teddy Roosevelt’s Or- egon Roadshow, a live performance by historical recreator Joe Wiegand, will visit Reedsport for a special event at noon tomorrow, Oct. 10, as part of a week-long tour of schools and museums sponsored by the Oregon Historical Society (OHS) and Wells Fargo. Wiegand has enter- tained and educated peo- ple of all ages as he tra- versed thousands of miles throughout the state. This year he will per- form at schools, theatres, and museums in Stayton, Coos Bay, Newport and Portland.
