Universalists discuss religions’
expectations about writings
On Sunday, Sept. 8, from
10 to 11 a.m. at the Flor-
ence Unitarian Universal-
ist Fellowship, Dr. Ruth
Miller will deliver a mes-
sage titled, “Expectations
of People of the Book.”
Three of the major world
religions depend on a par-
ticular set of writings as
the basis of their faith tra-
ditions: Judaism, Christi-
anity and Islam. Each of
them reveres their version
of those writings in their
rituals and practices — and
expects others to do the
same.
Miller will help the con-
gregation understand the
historical and cultural re-
lationships between these
various groups, helping
to understand what that
means for people, as Uni-
tarian Universalists and as
citizens of this planet?
The fellowship is located
at 87738 Highway 101 at
Heceta Beach Road and is
wheelchair accessible. Each
service concludes with re-
freshments and a dialogue
circle to explore the ques-
tions that come up during
each worship service.
