Join the Community Chorus Booster Club creates one hot Havana Night
Register to sing with the
Community Chorus on
Thursday, Aug. 29 at 6:30
p.m. at the Presbyterian
Church of the Siuslaw, 3996
Highway 101. Auditions are
not required. Rehearsal will
follow immediately after
registration until 8:30 p.m.
David Aakre will con-
duct the Chorus. All singers
from high school age and
up are welcome.
There is a registration fee
of $70 to cover the cost of
music and administrative
expenses. High school stu-
dents will automatically re-
ceive fee waivers.
The Community Cho-
rus regularly rehearses on
Thursday evenings from
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Pres-
byterian Church.
The winter concert will
take place on Saturday, Dec.
14, at 7 p.m. and Sunday,
Dec. 15, at 2 p.m., both tak-
ing place at the Presbyterian
Church of the Siuslaw.

erated over $40,000 due to
the generosity of those who

lows the SABC to continue

OCHS celebrates National Thrift Day today
In celebration of National
Thrift Day on Saturday, Aug.
17, Oregon Coast Humane
Society (OCHS) is pleased
to share some exciting up-
dates about its thrift store
located at 1193 Bay St. in
Historic Old Town Florence.
“We are very excited to
be part of the Florence Old
Town neighborhood,” says
Lynne Dixon, the store’s
new manager. “And we
want OCHS Thrift Store to
be a destination for locals
and visitors. We have daily
specials on various items,
and we now offer a senior
discount of 10 percent on
the first Tuesday of each
month.”
In recent weeks, the
OCHS Thrift Store has been
reorganizing and resorting
its inventory to improve
the shopping experience
for customers. The store is
restocking and turning in-
ventory more often, endeav-
oring to make every visit
a fresh and fun experience
with lots of new treasures
and finds available.
The OCHS thrift store
stocks a full range of prod-
ucts at affordable prices, and
has a convenient donation
process.
The selection of mer-
chandise will appeal to
shoppers looking for casual
and affordable clothing and
accessories for adults and
children, and of course pets.
The store also carries a wide
range of furniture, home
goods, kitchen ware, greet-
ing cards, games, books, and
collectibles. In addition, the
store also runs an eBay store
online which is used to sell
fine treasures and antiques.
Donations are always
needed, especially of gently
used clothes, furniture and
Christmas items, that will
help OCHS run their ev-
er-popular Christmas Store
during November. Dona-
tions are accepted during
store opening hours.
“We have been very fo-

store and are very happy to

Executive Director. “Funds
raised at our thrift store en-
able us to provide important
services to homeless and
at-risk cats and dogs in our
community. While we take
pride in being a great thrift
store, it’s important to un-
derscore that donating to
and shopping at our store
translates directly into help-
ing local animals. Every dol-
lar raised helps!”
The store’s summer hours
are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon-
day, Wednesday, Thursday,
Friday & Saturday, with ex-
tended hours on Tuesdays
until 6 p.m. Sunday hours
are noon to 4 p.m.
Donation collections may
be arranged upon request.
Donations made to the store
are tax deductible.

volunteering at the OCHS
