Based on her singing tal- ent, she was recommended by her choir teacher Bruce Morganti to attend the Oregon Ambassador of Music Program, sponsored by Oregon State University. This summer, the Ambas- sador of Music group will vis- it seven countries — England, France, Switzerland, Liechten- stein, Austria, Italy and Germa- ny. During that time, the ambas- sadors will perform with other students as they tour some of the most famous locations on the continent. Goldblatt was required to raise money for the trip and had suc- cessfully raised $1,000 through recycling bottles and cans and selling baked goods. She also wrote letters to various nonprof- it agencies, one of which was the Florence Masonic Lodge. Danielle Goldblatt receives a check from Paul Kindsvater, Florence Masonic Scholarship Chairman, to help cover her expenses for her trip to Europe this summer. After receipt of the letter, the trustees of the lodge invited Goldblatt to be interviewed. Af- terwards, she was notified that the lodge would sponsor the rest of her trip in full. The Florence Masonic Lodge is honored to sponsor local youth that go above and beyond to fol- low their dreams. This report shows our ef- forts are working.” As a water supplier, the city is required by the En- vironmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide an annual Consumer Con- fidence Report. Common- ly known as a Water Quali- ty Report, it provides water quality data from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2018. The report also informs customers of the location of the city’s water sources, the city’s source water protection programs, if there are any contaminants in the drink- ing water as well as the water analysis undertaken to ensure that the water delivered is safe and of the highest quality. “Florence’s dunal aquifer system is the only one of its kind in the State of Ore- gon,” said Miller. “Protect- ing it and providing our residents with high quality drinking water is our top priority.” In addition to the le- gally required language, the 2018 version includes information regarding source water protection, fun and informative water facts, a chart displaying daily water production SATURDAY SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY JUNE 29 JUNE 30 MAY 1 MAY 2 as well as a “water word scramble” activity for kids. The 2018 edition also provides information on water conservation, spe- cifically xeriscaping. Xeri- scaping is not “zeroscap- ing,” as in no landscaping. Xeriscaping is “landscap- ing for water conserva- tion,” where we can have beautiful landscapes that thrive in our coastal envi- ronment.
