Zachary Rowan was advanced to Boatswain Mate First Class (BMI), Luc Pierce advanced to Boatswain Mate Second Class (BM2) and Chris Moxley ad- vanced to Machinery Technician Second Class (MK2). At Station Siuslaw Riv- er, he is a duty Surfman and As- sistant Training Officer. Surfman is the highest qualification a Cox- sawin can achieve in the Coast Guard, operating under extreme weather and sea conditions. BM1 Rowan also holds an As- sociate’s Degree in aviation sci- ence and a license in aircraft me- chanics. MB2 Pierce, from Portland, has been in the Coast Guard for four years, with three of those spent at Station Siuslaw River. He became a Coxswain of the 47 ft. Motor Lifeboat after attending the Na- tional Motor Lifeboat School in Cape Disappointment. BM2 Pierce holds an Associate’s Degree as a wildlife technician. MK2 Moxley, who hails from Riverside California, has also been in the Coast Guard for four years, with the past two-and-a- half years in Florence. His time at Station Siuslaw River soon comes to an end, as he will be going to his new duty-assignment by the end of June on the USCG Cutter MUNRO (WMSL 755), home- ported in Alameda, Calif.
