Lane County Parks to hold public meeting on N. Jetty lease
Lane County Parks is
considering entering into
a long-term lease with the
Oregon Department of
State Lands (DSL) for the
North Jetty Park in Flor-
ence, and will be holding a
community meeting to dis-
cuss the prospect on Mon-
day, June 24, from 6 to 7:30
p.m.
North Jetty Park is 250
acres that abuts Lane
County’s popular Harbor
Vista Campground and is
south of Heceta Beach.
The North Jetty Park is
currently owned by DSL
and operated by the Ore-
gon Parks and Recreation
Department.
The park is zoned “Park
and
Recreation”
and
“Beach/Dunes.” This large-
ly undeveloped park in-
cludes beach access, an in-
formal trail system, a dive
dock, portable restrooms,
ponds and stands of shore
pine.
According to ORPD’s
annual car counts, the
park receives an average of
114,000 visits annually.
“Incorporating
North
Jetty into our county parks
system is likely to have sev-
eral benefits for the near-
by community, including
more regular maintenance
and park ranger pres-
ence,” said Lane County
Parks Manager Brett Hen-
ry. “However, before the
Board of Commissioners
makes any decisions, we
want to hear any concerns,
hopes or suggestions from
the neighbors and other
community members.”
The community meet-
ing will take place at
Siuslaw Valley Fire and
Rescue, located at 2625
Highway 101. A short sur-
vey is also available online

There is no deadline for
the Board of Commission-
ers to make a decision. In-
formation gathered during
the community meeting
and from the survey will be
shared with commissioners
as they consider any next
steps.

more.
Dr. Mark Immel will
teach a class on homeo-
pathic self-care on Satur-
day, June 22, in the Garden
Room at Wellspring Clinic
from 1 to 3 p.m.
He has nearly 40 years of
experience in homeopathy
and natural medicine.
“Homeopathic remedies
are an excellent addition to
the home first-aid kit, use-
ful for minor injuries and
ailments, as well as provid-
ing support and relief for
more serious conditions
where transport and fur-
ther medical care are need-
ed,” said Immel. “And they
work on animals as well.”
Tuition is $25, which in-
cludes take-home materi-

light refreshments.
There will be ample time

“As community mem-

gives us an awareness of
what is going on within
the hospital, and based on
that, we have an opportu-
nity to work with staff to
build improvement into
the process,” said Bob Hor-

a member for four years.
“it’s been very rewarding to
serve.”
