Looking to the Future: Siuslaw Vision invites community input All community members in the Siuslaw region are invited to gather together on Sunday, April 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Florence Senior Center, 1570 Kingwood St. The purpose of the event is to talk about the future of Siuslaw Vision 2020 and the organization that is working to implement it. In 2015, hundreds of Siu- slaw residents, from Dunes City to Florence and up the river through Mapleton and Deadwood, came together to create a shared vision for the future. Now, residents are in- vited to have a conversation about how Siuslaw Vision should evolve. Tree Bressen, a facilitator from Eugene, will lead attend- ees in an Appreciative Inquiry process to explore what has been successful in this com- munity vision so far, what challenges remain, and how Siuslaw Vision can best meet the needs of local residents into the future. A delicious dessert bar will be provided, along with prize drawings — including Flor- ence Farmer’s Market gift certificates. Participants can enjoy networking opportu- nities with other volunteers and community leaders, and a chance to talk about shared priorities. For more information, visit www.RiverCal.org. Siuslaw Vision is a grass- roots effort to improve quality of life for residents living in the western Lane County region, including Deadwood, Swis- shome, Mapleton, Florence, Dunes City and surrounding areas. It focuses on six inclusive el- ements, all centered on the people of the Siuslaw region: Working People (jobs and the economy), Happy People (health and human services), Educated People (lifelong learners), Connected People (infrastructure and public ser- vices), Creative People (arts and culture) and Active People (recreation and the outdoors).
