HARWOOD—Neil Wel-
come Harwood, 92, of Cot-
tage Grove, passed away
March 18, 2019.
He was born in Knappton,
Wash., to Omar and Beth-
el (Skinner) Harwood. Neil
joined the United States
Army and
worked as
a surgical
techni-
cian.

28, 1947,
in Deadwood, Ore. They
were married 69 years.
Neil worked logging relat-
ed jobs, and for many years
as a road grader operator in
Mapleton. He enjoyed fam-
ily and friends. Neil loved
camping and exploring
many places in Oregon. He
also enjoyed having a full
wood shed for cozy fires in
his fireplace.
He is survived by son Da-
vid (Janette) Harwood of
Walterville, Ore.; son Jef-
frey Harwood of Cottage
Grove, Ore.; brother Oscar
Harwood of Amity, Ore.;
brother Rex Harwood of
Weiser, Idaho; brother Mar-
vin Harwood of Calif.; sister
Margie Herzberg of Tigard,
Ore.; brother Walter Har-
wood of Roseburg, Ore.;
two grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by
his wife, Rachel Harwood.

care of Smith-Lund-Mills
Funeral Chapel.
HEATH—Arlyne Billie
Heath, 84, died of natural
causes Feb.
6, 2019, in
Mt.
Ver-
non, Wash.,
where she
had recent-
ly moved
in with her
d a u g h t e r,
Arlyne Heath A n d r e a
Heath, and
her husband, Craig Solo-
mon.
Prior to that move, Lyn
had lived in Florence OR
since 1993.
Lyn Heath was born June
29, 1934 and was raised in
Jump River, Wisc., by Wil-
liam and Hazel Carpenter.
Spending her early years
on a farm in northern Wis-
consin, Lyn grew up with
a great affection for all ani-
mals — pets, domesticated
and wild — and this passion
continued throughout her
lifetime as she volunteered
her time and financial sup-
port to the Oregon Coast
Humane Society in Florence,
the ASPCA and the Humane
Society.
She attended Sheldon
High School and Beloit Col-
lege, both in Wisconsin, and
modeled in Minneapolis,
Minn., in the 1950s before
she met and married Don-
ald A. Heath from Chica-
go, Ill. Together, they raised
two daughters Terri Heath
Ward (John Ward) and An-
dra Tammi Heath (Craig
Solomon) in Rockford, Ill.,
and Butte des Morts, Wisc.,
near Oshkosh — where Lyn
worked at Lenox Fine China
and Gifts as a display design-
er.
In that capacity, she trav-
eled across the U.S. setting
up showrooms, display win-
dows, convention booths
and winning awards as Na-
tional Display Designer and
Lenox Employee of the Year.
In retirement, these skills
were on display at Peace-
Health Peace Harbor Hos-
pital and Medical Center’s
Gift Shop in Florence, where
Lyn volunteered her time for
more than a decade — first
as a window display designer
and eventually as manager
and purchasing agent.
She regularly volunteered
at Florence Food Share as
well.
Lyn is preceded in death
by her parents, three sisters:
Leona Glidden, Lucille Al-
mond and Gladys Charland
and their husbands; and her
own husband, Donald A.
Heath in 2011; also her be-
loved cat, Brinks.
She is survived by two
daughters: Terri (in Eugene,
Ore.) and Andra (in Mt. Ver-
non, Wash.); their husbands:
John and Craig: and two
granddaughters: Ariel Heath
Stavitsky, of Portland, Ore.,
and Zina Heath Stavitsky, of
Reno, Nev.
A celebration of life for
Lyn Heath will be held Sun-
day, April 14, in a room at
the Florence Event Center
in Florence for family and
friends of Lyn.
The celebration will begin
at 2 p.m., with a small recep-
tion to follow.

REBELLO—We lost a
gentleman and friend when
Anthony William Rebello,
77, peacefully left this world
while at home on March 14,
2019, with his love, Rose-
mary, at his side.
Tony was born in Prov-
idence, R.I., on Aug. 21,
1941, and grew up in Santa
Clara, Calif. Tony embraced
his Por-
tuguese
roots and
loved the
dairy life
he spent
as a child,
working
with his

dad milk-

ing cows.
While
still
in
high school, Tony’s first ven-
ture as an entrepreneur was
escorting cows to Hawaii,
selling them at auction to
dairy farmers.
After high school, Tony
began working as a carpet
layer and soon owned five
carpet stores in Santa Clara
County, Calif. While owning
the stores, he continued his
education, earning a mas-
ters degree in social work
(MSW) and a masters degree
in church history from San
Francisco State University.
In his social work career,
he quickly discovered his
niche: Working with devel-
opmentally disabled chil-
dren. He especially loved
Down-Syndrome children,
their sweet smiles and daily
hugs. Tony also took classes
at the California Culinary
Academy in San Francisco,
where he discovered his true
passion, cooking.
In 1996, he and Rosemary
married, moved to Ashland,
Ore., and opened a bed &
breakfast. They soon found
they had many returning
guests who not only enjoyed
their hospitality, but loved
Tony’s gourmet breakfasts.
You never left the table
hungry! After eight years
as innkeepers, they retired
to Florence, near the ocean
Tony loved.
Tony proudly served his
country. First in the Air
Force, serving two tours of
duty in Vietnam. After mov-
ing to Florence, he joined
the Coast Guard Auxiliary,
volunteering his time as a
chef at the Siuslaw River Sta-
tion. Tony was named Coast
Guard Auxiliarist of the Year
in 2014 for his contributions.
He considered serving, sup-
porting and working with
the young men and women
at the station one of his most
gratifying experiences.
His is survived by his wife
Rosemary, his 101 year old
mother, two daughters, and
two grandchildren. Tony
will forever be remembered
for his wonderful smile,
his laugh, and of course,
his sense of humor. Ser-
vices will be held on Satur-
day, March 23, 2019 at 11
a.m., St. Andrews Episcopal
Church, 2135 19th Street,
Florence. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to
your favorite charity. Burn’s
Riverside Chapel Florence
Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
