Mark, also known as
“Red,” “Haywire Red” and
“Riptide Red,” was a gifted
storyteller. His eyes would
dance as he entertained ev-
eryone with stories of his life
adventures, of which there
were many. Mark also loved
to hunt, fish, trap and to de-
sign and build dwellings.
Mark returned to Ma-
pleton, Ore., in 2012 to live
with his caring and loving
friends, Johnny and Linda
Reeves. Mark was known for
his kindness, generosity and
charm.
Mark is survived by his
daughter, Amber Marie Geil,
and her three children; his
son, Elijah Gabriel Geil, and
his three children; his sisters:
Gay Geil Ballard and Georgi
Geil Reichner; and brother,
Ross Geil.
Mark’s brother, John W.
Geil, and his father and
mother preceded him in
death.
We will greatly miss Mark
who was truly a shinning
star in all our lives.

Florence City Hall nearing completion, soon to open
The City of Florence re-
model of City Hall is near-
ly complete, with services
returning to the remodeled
facility, located at 250 High-
way 101, on Wednesday,
Feb. 6.
During the move back to
City Hall, the City appre-
ciates the patience of the
Florence community, and
is excited to invite the com-
munity to see the remodeled
and expanded City Hall later
in February.
• City Service Delivery
Moving
City Staff members will
be transitioning from their
temporary locations to City
Hall beginning Wednesday,
Jan. 30. During the move,
customers can still receive
assistance at the Florence
Public Works Operations
Facility, located at 2675
Kingwood St.
City services and utility
payments will continue to
be accepted at the main win-
dow in Public Works.
The Community Devel-
opment Department will
be closed Friday, Jan. 31
through Tuesday, Feb. 5,
but Community Develop-
ment staff will be available
to provide limited counter
assistance at Public Works
during the transition.
Building inspections
will continue as usual on
Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Fri-
day, Feb. 1.
City services including
utility billing and finance,
business licensing, commu-
nity development and code
enforcement will be open
for business at City Hall on
Wednesday, Feb. 6.
The City will maintain
some overlap services at the
Florence Public Works Op-
erations Facility through the
month of February during
the transition.

partnership with the Oregon
Department of Geology and
Mineral Industries (DOGA-
MI).
The NANOOS Visualiza-
tion System (NVS) Tsunami
Evacuation smartphone app
provides an at-a-glance view
of tsunami hazard zones
along the coasts of Oregon
and Washington. Users can
locate their current location
on the map to see if they
are in a tsunami evacuation
zone, plan their own evacu-
ation routes, download pub-
lished evacuation brochures
for the region and now, print
and save customized evacu-
ation brochures centered on
an area of interest.

house on Tuesday, Feb. 19,
for members of the public
to view the full facility. More
information on this event
will be distributed in early

meeting in the remodeled
