OBITUARIES
LORENZ—Dolores Lou-
ise Lorenz (Kvavle), 88, for-
merly of Florence died Dec.
27, 2018, in Eugene, Ore.
Dolores was born April
23, 1930, in Portland, Ore.
Dolores grew up in the
Portland area, graduating
from Washington High
school in 1948. She mar-
ried Carl
Lorenz
in 1949.
With their
children
in
tow,
the fami-
ly moved
around the
c o u n t r y,
Dolores
making
Lorenz
stops
in
Eugene,
Minneapolis and Farming-
ton Minnesota, Enumclaw
Washington and Florence,
Ore.
As a child, Dolores spent
significant time in the Vien-
to area. Family was very im-
portant to her and for her
entire life she spoke fondly
of these times. The special
moments she spent with her
father and cousins were a
lifelong treasure.
Dolores was very fond of
living in Florence and devel-
oped many friendships that
lasted a life time. She was
very involved in a number of
church communities.
Dolores worked at Siuslaw
Valley Bank, Oregon Pacific
Banking Company, and the
Florence Clinic before retir-
ing from Peace Harbor Hos-
pital. She was an active vol-
unteer throughout her life.
Even after her eyesight failed
her, she knitted scarves for
the homeless to help them
stay warm.

and every sort of arts and
crafts project. She could sew
anything, making clothes for
her children and many of the
banners for several churches
across the country.
She was also a great cook
and loved baking with and
for her grandchildren. Do-
lores could frequently be
seen walking around Flor-
ence, stopping at her favorite
park or visiting with shop-
keepers or friends.
Her greatest love was her
family who surrounded and
supported her in her final
days.
She is survived by her chil-
dren: Christine Eide (David),
Karen Brock (David), David
Lorenz (Rebecca), Kathy Jo
Ferriera (Abe); five grand-
sons, seven great-grandchil-
dren and her kitty, Skippy.
A public memorial ser-
vice will

DANTE—Dr. John An-
thony (Jack) Dante, 85, for-
merly of Florence, died Jan.
5, 2019, in McMinnville.
Dr. John A. Dante was
born in 1933 in San Francis-
co to parents John Antone
Dante and Rea Onita (Street)
Dante.
He was raised in Florence,
where he graduated high
school in 1952. He attended
University of Oregon and
graduated with a DMD de-
gree from the U of O Dental
School in 1959.
He established his den-
tal office in McMinnville,
Ore., where he practiced for
23 years and was a member
of the Lions Club. He later
opened an office in Florence,
where he practiced dentistry
for another 10 years.
Following retirement, he
and his wife returned to Mc-
Minnville where they have
lived the past 11 years.
He was a devoted hus-
band to his wife of 63 years,
Jeannine
(Worthylake)
Dante. He was also a lov-
ing father, grandfather and
great-grandfather and was
dearly loved by all.
He was a man of faith.
Hunting, fishing and
camping with family were
among his favorite past
times.
Surviving him are his wife;
two sons: Jon Dante of Day-
ton, Ore., and Alan Dante of
McMinnville; seven grand-
children and 11 great-grand-
children.
A graveside service will
be held with family mem-
bers at the historic, pioneer
Fir Grove Cemetery in Ada,
Ore., south of Florence.
