Every weekend in January, Three Riv-
ers Casino Resort invites the community
to Blue Bills Sports Bar & Tap Room, lo-
cated inside the casino at 5647 Highway
126, which will be featuring live shows
performed by top local artists.
Be sure to stop in Blue Bills on Jan. 5
from 7 to 11p.m. to hear amazing jazz,
blues and gypsy jazz hits from Allen
Giaridinelli Hot Club Quintet. Known
for his distinct acoustic guitar sounds,
Giaridinelli has been playing music for
three decades throughout 35 countries.
Jan. 11 and 12 will feature The Saultry
Trio, showcasing the sultry voice of
Sarah Saul. The Saultry Trio’s jazzy and
soulful take on pop tunes and jazz stan-
dards has found appeal with a wide vari-
ety of audiences. Drawing from the last
four decades of pop music, as well as jazz
standards that spans the gap between
something familiar and something new,
The Saultry Trio is sure to provide some-
thing for everyone.

Olem Alves & Inner Limits
has been playing harmonica since the
age of 8 and has established himself as
a major harmonica talent on the blues
scene in the Pacific Northwest.
Jan. 25 and 26 will feature Olem Alves
& Inner Limits, an energetic blues/funk/
rock group based in Eugene, Ore. Lead
by guitarist Olem Alves, the group plays
a mix of groovin’ originals and arrange-
ments of classic blues and rock, which is
designed to light the funk in your soul
and lure the dance from within your
mind and body.
As a reminder, there is no cover charge
for Blue Bills performances, but patrons
must be 21+.
Backstreet, FEC issue ‘Call to Artists’
Backstreet Gallery (BSG),
in partnership with the Flor-
ence Events Center (FEC),
is offering an special oppor-
tunity to artists in the local
community.
Together, they are issuing
the “Where Art Thou?” Call
To Artists to enter up to three
art pieces to be exhibited
during the months of Febru-
ary and March at the FEC.
Hanging art — paintings,
mixed-media, photography,
pastels — as well as 3-D art —
pottery, jewelry, fused glass,
mosaics — that fits in the
locked display case are wel-
come. Up to three entries will
be accepted per artist, with
$10 charged for the first en-
try and $5 for each additional
entry.
The exhibit will be in Gal-
leries One and Five at the
FEC, 715 Quince St.
Ribbons will be awarded
for first, second and third
place and honorable mention.
The Best in Show winner
will receive a one-month fea-
tured show at Backstreet Gal-
lery.
Deadline for artists to
submit their entry forms is
Jan. 15, 2019. Entry forms

WLCF 2019 grant applications still available
Western Lane Community
Foundation (WLCF) would
like to remind local nonprof-
it organizations that the 2019
grant cycle is still open to eli-
gible applicants.
Each year, WLCF awards
several grants to local non-
profits for projects/programs
in western Lane County.
Grants are awarded in the
areas focused on education,
medicine and science, the
arts, and social and civic ser-
vices.
In 2018, over $73,000 was
awarded to several of these
worthy causes. The annual
amount to be awarded is de-
termined by the performance
of the invested portfolio of
discretionary funds during
the current year. Grant re-
quests for the 2019 grant cycle
will be accepted until Jan. 15,
2019.
The application may be

website and it’s highly rec-
ommended that applicants
review the Grant Guidelines
included there.

February and then awarded
in late March. Selected grant
recipients will be required to
submit a grant report by Aug.
31, 2019.

it, need and benefit to the
community at large. Grant
requests and award amounts
vary greatly, but are usually
between $100 and $5,000, de-
pending on the nature of the
grant project and funds avail-
able for distribution.

Community Suppers continue in January
The Florence Communi-
ty Suppers program, hosted
by local churches, will be
providing free communi-
ty meals to all who wish
to attend. The events are
aimed at hungry families,
busy people, lonely seniors,
friends and neighbors, all
ages and any walk of life.
Donations towards the
cost of the meals will be ac-
cepted, but not required.
Meals are held Wednes-
day nights throughout the
month of January, with din-
ing times starting at 5:30
p.m. and lasting to 6:30 p.m.
The next supper will be
Jan. 9 at New Life Lutheran
Church.
