Tunick, Ed.D. will discuss his
book “Spiritual Journey: The
Bahá’í Faith.”
The evening will be an ef-
fort to acquaint participants
with the message of the Bahá’í
Faith, its history and its prin-
ciples.
Walter states that the deteri-
orating moral conditions that
are spreading globally have
caused devastating gaps in
social behavior that endanger
the well-being of all societies
and nations. The growth of
interest in moral and religious
values has been stirring calls
to action among the estab-
lished religions.
The Bahá’í Faith, claiming
hereditary connections with
its older sister religions, offers
relevant explanations for cur-
rent world problems that do
not conflict with the earlier
teachings.
People should come pre-
pared to share their thoughts
with the group.
At the end of the gathering,
the members will read the
prayer requests that have been
left in the Prayer Pole in the
garden of the Florence Play-
house, 208 Laurel St.

Apply now for WLCF 2019 grant cycle
In this time of Thanksgiv-
ing, Western Lane Commu-
nity Foundation (WLCF)
is very thankful to offer the
2019 grant cycle to eligible
applicants.
Each year, WLCF awards
several grants to local non-
profit organizations for proj-
ects/programs in its target
area of Western Lane Coun-
ty. Grants are awarded in the
areas of education, medicine
and science, the arts and so-
cial and civic services.
In 2018, over $73,000 was
awarded to several of these
worthy causes. The annual
amount to be awarded is de-
termined by the performance
of the invested portfolio of
discretionary funds during
the current year.
Grant requests for the 2019
grant cycle will be accepted
until Jan. 15, 2019. The ap-
plication may be download-
ed at WLCF’s website. It is
highly recommended that
applicants review the Grant
Guidelines included there.

Selected grant recipients
will be required to submit a
grant report by Aug. 31, 2019.

it, need, and benefit to the
community at large. Grant
requests and award amounts
vary greatly, but are usually
between $100 and $5,000,
depending on the nature of
the grant project and funds
available for distribution.
