Community Chorus to
host guest performers
Special guests will perform
at the Community Chorus’
“Sing Me Noel” concert on
Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. and
Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m., at
the Presbyterian Church of
the Siuslaw, 3996 Highway
101 in Florence.
Bruce Morganti will direct
the Siuslaw High School Gold
Viking Chorus, which will ap-
pear only at the Saturday con-
cert. The Flotones will appear
both Saturday and Sunday,
as will Maree Beers, who will
join the chorus for a rousing
spiritual, “Jesus, Oh What A
Wonderful Child.”
On Sunday, Community
Chorus Director David Aakre
and his daughter, Kallie Mill,
will sing a duet and Rhianna
Haines will perform a piano
solo.
Both performances are free
and open to the public. Dona-
tions will be accepted to sup-
port the Siuslaw High School
Choral Music Program and
the Community Chorus.
Annual Victorian Christmas opens at lighthouse Dec. 8
Heceta Head Lightstation is
celebrating 23 years of the An-
nual Victorian Christmas Open
House on Dec. 8, 9, 15 and 16,
from 4 to 7 p.m.
The Queen Anne style Keep-
er’s House will be decorated
inside and out with festive Vic-
torian holiday decorations Dec.
6 through Jan. 2. Open house
sponsors Banner Bank, Sweet
Homes Vacation Rentals, Yach-
ats Chamber of Commerce and
Yachats Presbyterian Church
will be providing warm drinks
and treats.
Each evening local perform-
ers will share holiday favor-
ites. Ron Stanley, Sea String
Quartet, Hammer and Whis-
tle, Heart Song, High Tide and
Marty Adams are some of the
talented musicians who will
be performing at the historic
Keeper’s House. Even Santa will
be visiting to welcome children
of all ages.
Guests are encouraged to
take a night time walk to the

Sea of Lights to illuminate aquarium
The Oregon Coast Aquar-
ium invites the public to illu-
minate the holiday season by
experiencing the aquarium’s
annual Sea of Lights celebra-
tion.
Sea of Lights is the largest
holiday light display on the
central Oregon coast. Be im-
mersed in over half a million
colorful lights, live music and
holiday decorations while ex-
ploring the aquarium af-ter-
hours. SCUBA Santa will be
busy granting holiday wishes,
diving the aquarium exhibits
and posing for photos with
guests.
This family friendly event
kicks off with a special cele-
bration on Friday, Nov. 30 and
Dec. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. Ad-
mission to this first Friday and
Saturday of Sea of Lights is $2
plus two cans of nonperishable
food. Entry is $10 per person
without donation.
Admission is free for aquar-
ium members, but they are en-
couraged to bring an item to
donate. People may also donate
pet food or new, unwrapped
children's toys for the Newport
Salvation Army Toy Drive in
place of a food donation.
Sea of Lights will continue to
illuminate the aquarium every
Friday and Saturday of Decem-
ber from 5 to 8 p.m.
Admission is $10 or free
with same day paid admission.
This year’s Sea of Lights is
proudly presented by Walmart.
Customers that spend over
$100 at Walmart’s Newport lo-
cation beginning Nov. 15 will
receive a voucher for one free
admission to Sea of Lights at
the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
The offer is valid while sup-
plies last and certain dates are
subject to blackout (see store
for details.)
Attendees using a voucher
are encouraged, but not re-
quired, to make a food or toy
donation.
The aquarium is open every
day, except Dec. 25, this winter
from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For tick-
