Three Rivers Casino and Hotel officially opened its new food court Thursday, with scores of customers, employees
and local dignitaries converging on the newly designed eating area. Visitors were treated to free samples of milk-
shakes, sandwiches and freshly made pizza from the casino’s new stone oven, which can cook a pizza in under two
minutes. The food court, which replaces the World Market Buffet that closed its doors in October, has had a suc-
cessful soft open for the past two weeks, but Thursday marked the official grand opening for the casino’s two new
fast food offerings: The 101 Burger Bar and Mamma Mia!: A Taste of Italy in Florence. The newly designed meals,
all of which can be had for under $10, include pizza, chicken sandwiches, calzones and lasagna. Also included in
the food court is a buffet style salad bar, where diners can create their own meals, charged by the pound.

Tips to be offered using ancestory’s DNA matches
The Siuslaw Genealogy So-
ciety November meeting will
take place Wednesday, Nov. 14,
a week early due to Thanksgiv-
ing.
DNA match results con-
tinue to fascinate and baffle
those who’ve had theirs tested.
Whether you’ve completed a
test or are contemplating taking
one, this meeting will be of as-
sistance.
People who test their DNA
through Ancestry.com receive
an ethnicity report and a list of
people (matches) with whom
they share DNA.
Kevin Mittge, who attended
a workshop in August led by
DNA genealogist CeCe Moore,
will focus on the match side
of the results, sharing tips that
he has learned about under-
standing, sorting and using the
matches.
There is a lot of data available
through the Ancestry DNA
matches and it can be confus-
ing as to how to use it. This pro-
gram will seek to answer some
of the common questions about
DNA matching.
“The program will focus on
Ancestry only, not other DNA
companies, and will not be
dealing with the ethnicity side
of the results. Others who have
tested and have tips and sugges-
tions to offer about matches are
invited to join in the conversa-
tion.
All are welcome to attend.
Siuslaw Genealogy Soci-
ety ordinarily meets the third
Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the
Bromley Room at Siuslaw Pub-
lic Library.

PFLAG to host public ‘Fun Night’ at LCC Tuesday
PFLAG will host a Fun Night an evening of games and re-
event on Tuesday, Nov. 13, with freshments that is open to the

The meeting will be held in

with convenient parking in the
rear.
Family and friends are wel-
