Today, on Halloween, Gre-
entrees Village is sponsoring
free rides for all passengers on
the Rhody Express.
The Rhody Express travels
in and around Florence, offer-
ing service to Old Town, Fred
Meyer, Safeway, Grocery Out-
let, Three Rivers Casino, Peace
Harbor Medical Center, the
Siuslaw School District and
other areas around Florence.
Service is provided hourly
each weekday between 10 a.m.
and 6 p.m.

Port to hold Special Session Nov. 1
On Thursday, Nov. 1, the
Port of Siuslaw Commission-
ers will hold a Special Session
beginning at 4 p.m. at the Port
conference room, located at
100 Harbor St. in Florence.
The Special Session will be
to review bids received for the
C Row Embankment Repair
Project and choose a Contrac-
tor.

Valley Fire and Rescue (SVFR). Forty-seven people attended and $1,000 was collected in less than two hours. Guests
dined on eggs benedict or apple stuffed pancakes. “We felt like it was a success because of the support and comrad-
ery between guests and firemen,” said Beth Webb, executive director of Shorewood.
Yachats to host 18th annual Celtic Music Festival
The Yachats Celtic Music
Festival opens for its 18th year
Friday, Nov. 9, at the Yachats
Commons and other venues
around town. The festival will
continue through the week-
end, ending on Sunday Nov.
11, and will include concerts,
dances, stories, talks, whisky
tastings, workshops, vendors,
jam sessions, the sunset “Piper
on the Point,” and other events
during the day and into the eve-
ning each day.
The early Friday noon open-
ing is planned again, creating
an opportunity to enjoy live
music and have a Celtic-in-
spired snack or beverage before
the afternoon concerts begin.
All ages are welcome at most
events.
The festival’s success is based
on local support through spon-
sorships, publicity, hundreds of
donated volunteer hours, and
Celtic music lovers who attend
the shows.
The YCMF is produced
by Polly Plumb Productions,
a Yachats based non-profit.

Florence PTA hosting rummage sale this weekend
Florence Community Parent
Teacher Association (FCPTA)
will hold a fundraising rum-
mage sale this Saturday, Nov. 3,
at Siuslaw Middle School.
The event will run from 10
a.m. to 3 p.m. with all kinds of
yard sale treasures for purchase.
“This will be a fun event to
follow up the Color-a-Thon
hosted by Siuslaw Schools that
takes place at 9 a.m. the same
morning,” said Alex Selig, FCP-
TA President. “We encourage
everyone to come out and run
the Color-a-Thon then stop in
the PTA Rummage Sale for a
little shopping.”
Proceeds from the event will
go to support the program of
FCPTA, who acts as the PTA
organization for the elemen-
tary, middle and high school.
Programs of the organization
include things like teacher
grants, a family dinner night
during the annual elementary
book fair, teacher appreciation
week events and student schol-
arships for graduating seniors.
Anyone who wishes to do-
nate goods for sale at the rum-
mage sale can drop them off
from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov.
2, at the Siuslaw Middle School
gym, located at 2525 Oak St.
