Once the proposals are
received, the selection com-
mittee will convene.
The Mural Selection Com-
mittee will be comprised of
members of the mural sub-
committee as well as mem-
bers of the community and
representatives from Central
Lincoln PUD. The selection
committee will then choose
one artist who will install the
mural during the Spring of
2019.

The PAC made a call to art-

gust and received more than
100 submissions. The sub-
missions will be narrowed
down from 100 to 12 by the
mural’s subcommittee. Once
that is accomplished, the
Public Art Committee will
choose three artists it would
like to see more of and will
provide a limited stipend to
create the artist’s vision for
the mural.

Mayor to proclaim National Arts & Humanities Month
National Arts and Hu-
manities Month (NAHM)
was established over 30 years
ago by the Americans for the
Arts Foundation. It focuses
on the arts at the local, state
and national levels, and en-
courages individuals and or-
ganizations to participate in
the arts.
It also allows governments
and businesses to show their
support of the arts by raising
public awareness about the
role the arts and humanities
play in communities.
On Monday, Oct. 22, at
5:30 p.m. at the Florence
Event Center, Florence
Mayor Joe Henry will be
making a proclamation for
National Arts and Human-
ities Month.
The Public Art Com-
mittee’s (PAC) work has
centered around the mural
that it’s commissioning for
the Central Lincoln PUD
6, in the annual Give a Day
Away community service
event.
This year, the team will
devote its time and focus
on painting the interior of a
home for an incoming fami-
ly in need.
